Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE It's not very often that you see the more aggressive and sporty Mustang Fastback equipped from the factory with a 6-cylinder engine and a manual transmission. But this is just such a car, and it might make perfect sense with gasoline now averaging $4.00 per gallon. The car is very nicely restored in Rangoon Red with a White interior. During the course of the restoration, the installation of a V-8 engine was contemplated, so the entire suspension, driveline, wheels, and brakes were upgraded with brand new components sourced from companies such as Summit Racing, Mustangs Unlimited, CJs Pony Parts, and SSBC. The list of parts is extensive and expensive. These parts include a Currie 9” rear end with 3.50 gears (traction-lock), SSBC 4-wheel disc brakes including new master cylinder and brake lines, American Racing Shelby wheels, BF Goodrich Radial TA tires, Addco sway bars, new front coil springs, new rear leaf springs, new front and rear shock absorbers, tie rods, tie rod ends, idler arm, upper and lower control arms, balanced driveshaft, and new exhaust. Naturally all of the hardware, bushings etc. associated with the above parts were replaced as well. This is just a partial list, and all receipts are included with the sale of the car. If one were to decide to upgrade to an 8-cylinder engine, all of the hard work is done. All you would need to do is install the engine/transmission, and replace the front coil springs with those intended for an 8-cylinder. These springs (brand new) are included with the sale of the car. The interior is in beautiful condition. There are no rips or tears in the seats or headliner. There are no cracks in the dash-pad or door panels. There is virtually no wear in the carpeting. All gauges, controls, switches, vents, lights and the radio (original) function properly, as does the fold-down rear seat. The engine compartment is nicely detailed and there are no leaks. The trunk is nicely detailed as well including the proper floor mat and spare-tire cover. The spare tire is a new matching BF Goodrich Radial TA mounted on a new steel wheel. The jack and all associated hardware are present in their proper place. The engine starts easily and runs well. The car drives beautifully and has a good amount of pep even with the 6-cylinder engine. This is the larger of the two 6-cylinder engines that were offered in 1965. Overall this is a very “high-end driver quality” car that is certainly capable of winning shows at a local level. It is not a “concours quality restoration” and as such if you look very closely you will be able to find some very minor imperfections. In addition to the above mentioned receipts, the sale of the car includes the original Owners Manual as well as some registrations (West Virginia) dating back to 1982. Inspections are welcome.
