Vehicle Detail
For sale is a rare 1963 Pontiac LeMans convertible --- the precursor to the GTO. This one has low mileage (111,000) and a four cylinder motor. I purchased the car in 2008 with a view to restoring it. However, the transporter ripped off one of the brake hoses, I began having some health difficulties, and I never completed the job. So it has been sitting in my driveway for three years. I am 70 years old and it has become obvious to me I am never going to complete the job, so it is time for someone else to take over. When I received the car, it was running well and everything worked. I have not tried to start it since, but don't think anything should be wrong other than the gas in the tank needs changing. It is in a dry climate where it rains rarely. The transmission worked perfectly as well. I wouldn't imagine that has changed either. You could probably do work to the brakes and drive the car over the summer before doing a restoration. This is a good basic car that can be enjoyed before restoration is undertaken. After you play with it for a while, while the body is basically sound and straight, it needs to be stripped of its paint, a little body work done around the rear wheels and rockers, a new hydraulic motor placed in the convertible mechanism (they are available after market on ebay), new tires placed on, and the brake line replaced. Then it will be the $30,000 car I envisioned. I actually paid $6000 for this car (see bill of sale attached). I am expecting to take a loss becuase of the economy. But back in 2008, I think $6000 was a fair price. My loss is your gain. His truck pulling a trailer gets 15 mpg more or less. For example, Abq to Denver and return takes about 60 gallons of gas or $180 plus one night in a motel $50 plus food $25 for a total of $265. It gives him a chance to travel and take a break from the heat here in New Mexico.
