Vehicle Detail
1964 Mercedes Benz 230sl Convertible Roadster. 2 tops, both in excellent condition.. Not the original engine. Has been upgraded from mechanical injection to electronic injection with the 280 6 cylinder engine. Is a European model. The odometer obviously doesn't reflect the actual mileage on the motor, and since it is a European model the mileage is in kilometers. Stored since 1982 and not registered since 1984. Has a clear Massachusetts title. It is non-oped, so their should be no back registration fees. Lights work and so do signals and heat. The horn is currently not working. It needs a spring. Has an Alpine am/fm cassette player. Doesn't seem to work. Missing its knobs. Could be in the trunk. Lots of extra parts in there including Mercedes Benz hubcaps. Center console and window cranks need to be installed. Also vent on top of dash is loose. Otherwise the dash is in nice shape. As far as we know all the instrumentation and gauges work. Rack and pinion steering is standard. Car is mechanic owned and drives great. Engine sounds good and it shifts easily through all gears. Unsure if the transmission had an upgrade when the new engine was put in. Transmission is a standard 4 speed. Body wise the car is in very nice shape. There is a ding on the left bottom part of the hard top and one below on top of the right quarter panel. Interior is nice. There is a small repair on the cushion of the passenger seat. Also there is small paint chip and red paint drip below left rear side glass. The rear bumper has a imbedded scratch on the left side and the right side is beginning to show rust through the chrome. There is also a very tiny ding on the right quarter panel. Rust wise there is some rocker panel rust in the wheel wells. It is totally repairable and they sell replacement parts for it. The rubber piece near the inside of the back windshield at the base of the hardtop where normally a package tray goes is warped. As far as we know, they do not make this piece anymore and you would probably have to find one Ebay. The only other imperfection I can see on the car has a few inverted dings on the hood which I am guessing could have been from some light hail. The chrome overall is very nice and the front bumper and grill look great. Even the paint has a decent shine too it. The tires have very good tread, but are over 20 years old and have weather cracking, so they will have to be replaced. Car has alloy wheels. Believed not to be stock. Overall the vehicle is in pretty good shape. Needs a little tlc, mostly comestic. Great car for the summer. Very elegant, classic styling, and very fun to drive. Absolutely no trades, please don't ask. If you have any questions or concerns please email me before you bid.
