Vehicle Detail

This is a classic Mercedes diesel--it's a European model that's very rare in the U.S (the first owner brought it over from Germany). The European models vary from the American imports--it has cloth seats (a cool dark plaid), the European bumpers and turn signals, no wood on the center console, and manual windows. Also, since it was tuned for the autobahn, it doesn't have or need turbo--it easily cruises in the fast lane on the interstate. This would be a great car for a collector or for a unique everyday vehicle. Everything under the hood is in great shape--the vacuum pump was replaced a couple years ago, the exhaust system about a year ago, and the battery and alternator a couple months ago. For comfort, the driver's seat springs have been replaced as well as the A/C compressor (although the A/C needs to be recharged). Also, I replaced the dashboard lights (which now work perfectly) and repaired the odometer. The odometer had stopped for awhile, but from going through the maintenance records it seems the car has about 165,000 miles (very low for this engine--it can easily go 500,000). Cosmetically, this car is in beautiful condition. There are two very small rust spots above the rear wheels and one area on the roof where the previous owner over-buffed some of the paint away (but no rust there). Inside, I removed the aftermarket dashboard cover to expose the original dash, which has a few cracks (wouldn't be hard to repair) and could use a coat of vinyl/fabric paint (also not a difficult job). The only other work needed for this car to be fully restored are to repair/replace the power antenna and to fix the dashboard clock (works intermittently). The only reason I'm selling this car is because we're moving to the city and I won't have a place to keep it--I'll be sorry to see it go but hope it finds a good home. Note--the VIN is WDB1231301A089718--ebay wouldn't accept that number (neither would my insurance or the DMV at first, but that's the number on the engine and on the door jam--a quick google search will show that this vin is the same format as other "grey-market" imports for this year/model).
