Vehicle Detail

1991 Pontiac Trans Am GTA with T-tops Clear Indiana title 94,000 original miles Red ext / black int 230hp 305ci TPI/5 speed manual T5 3.42 limited slip axle AC/PS/PB/MT/Cruise/Tilt/Power lower seat HD Radio/CD player with remote, JVC-HDR20 - also has aftermarket speakers front/rear. This car is a very original rust-free survivor. I have owned it for around a year. I am selling it because I recently purchased a Camaro and this one needs to go now. This low milage car is in almost 100% original condition and has not been modified or cut up in any way. The engine appears to have never been out/apart other than some of the injectors being replaced at some point. All of the emission controls hardware is still there and it even appears to have the original plug wires on it. It has no rust and has been taken good care of over the years. It recently had the rearend rebuilt with bushings, shocks, fluid and grommets. The positraction works fine. It also was recently rustproofed on the entire chassis with color-matched red rustproofing. The engine does not leak a drop of anything. The brakes all have lots of life left on them and fluids are changed frequently. The alternator is new. It never runs hot (even during the 100deg+ temps lately), and always makes great oil pressure. The pop-up headlights work fine, as do all of the lamps and the fog lights. The rear hatch electric pull-down works fine too. It runs and drives great and has been stored inside during winters. The AC works, as do all of the power options. The t-tops seal fine and do not leak any water. It has Sumic GT-50 tires p245/50/16 with at least 75% tread left on them. The only non-stock components that I am aware of on this car are a Flowmaster catback, shocks, the stereo and a BMR strut tower brace. The exhaust sounds great. I have owned a number of 82-92 Camaros/TA's over the years and when I drove this, it seemed quite a bit faster than any other 305 I had been in and even faster than most 350 cars. It turned out that it actually had a 230hp 305 and 3.42 gears instead of the 205hp 305 with 3.08 gears that almost all other T-top 5 speed cars were built with. In almost all of the 305 thirdgens, Camaros and Firebirds, the 305TBI engines were rated at 170hp. The 305 Tuned port engines were all rated at 205hp/285ft-lb with one very important exception. If the car was ordered with a 5 speed transmission and the rarely-ordered 3.42 axle, the camshaft from the 350 was used in the 305, resulting in 230hp/300ft-lb of torque. The information on this combination can be found in a few locations such as: http://www.thirdgen.org/1991-pontiac-firebird As shown, a 5 speed Z28 or TA from 91 could come with three different axle ratios, 3.08, 2.73 and 3.42. Those were all rated at 205hp except for the 3.42 axle cars. All of the clearcoat is still in good condition with no peeling anywhere, even the wing. It has always been waxed and stored inside. It has some chips and scratches here and there, but nothing major. The wheels are very clean and the clearcoat is in nearly perfect condition. They are as close to new as you will find and the centercaps are brand new WS6 centercaps. The car has recently had all of the fluids changed including transmission and rear differential. Overall, a super sharp driver, ready to roll that is ready to roll, with an engine/trans/axle combination that is extremely hard to come by. I would not hesitate to drive this car anywhere and recently took a 400+ mile trip with it. This auction is a NO RESERVE auction. The car is also listed locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early if an acceptable bid is made. A $500 paypal deposit is required within 24 hours of auction end and the remaining balance is required within 7 days of auction end. The vehicle is located in Columbus, Indiana. On Aug-02-11 at 14:00:53 PDT, seller added the following information: As mentioned in the questions, a number of people have emailed me saying that without the Y84 option, it is not a true GTA. That may well be the case, as I am not a GTA expert by any means. It may well be a good GTA clone car. All of the other options listed are correct for the car as built. The GTA badges may have been added afterwards, as the car has all of the other GTA options. Also, the rear hatch pull down mechanism has started acting strange in the heat this week. Not sure what the problem is with it.
