NO RESERVE AUCTION! This auction starts at only $1999.99. There is NO RESERVE! This auction WILL run it's course. This car WILL sell to the highest bidder. 1936 International Harvester Pickup Rat Rod (See links below for LOTS of Photos and Information.) Rat Rod Page Rat Rod Blog Link It all started out with a cab from a 1936 International Harvester Pickup. This cab was chopped and channeled over a custom made rectangular tube chassis. A custom steel floor and steel firewall was fabbed to match the body. The body was completed with the addition of a 1935 Hudson Grille and a 1930's pickup bed box. The bed now has a custom steel tonneau cover and tailgate section. The tonneau cover is piano hinged behind the cab, and it can be easily opened to access the entire bed area. It is secured by old school hood pins on the tail gate. Under the tonneau cover is a poly fuel cel / gas tank. There is no fiberglass or any kind of body filler on this car. For running gear, a 302 cubic inch Ford small block V8 mated to a four speed manual transmission was bolted in using custom made engine and trans mounts. The Ford 302 has custom made Lakes style headers, aftermarket Holley intake manifold and carburetor. A pair of Ansen style chromed finned aluminum valve covers add a vintage look. To top it off is a Mr. Gasket Street Scoop. The engine runs great. No smoke. No rattles or other untoward sounds. The Transmission shifts correctly too. There is a shortened drive shaft linking the trans to a Ford Ranger rear end. The car fires right up, every time. No leaks from the engine, trans, or cooling system. The battery was purchased within the past six months. The front axle is a 1949-1954 Chevrolet part. The car does not have front brakes. The original builder was only going to run with rear brakes, but I had planned on adding front disc brakes. I was going to purchase a kit to add disc brakes on this axle from Speedway Motors. The rear axle is leaking from the pinion and the right rear seal, which has coated the inner right brake drum. Not a huge deal, but you should know that the car has only one functioning brake. This is a project, and I was still sorting things out with it. The clutch and brake master cylinders are Wilwood units. The pedal assembly mount needs work / stiffening. The pedals have side to side movement when the clutch is depressed. As you can see, we went with a Flying Tiger theme for this rod. We painted the body and did all of the graphics to resemble the famous Curtis P-40 Warhawk. The graphics are all painted, save for the Japanese Rising Sun Flags on the driver's door. Those are the only decals on the car. The hood ornament is a gun sight from a M60 Machine Gun. Interior: A pair of brand new bomber style bucket seats in a deep blood red color vinyl. They are not installed yet. Just sitting there. I bought some seat mounts from Speedway Motors but found that they make the seats too tall for me. I was going to bolt the seats to the floor. I also have a brand new pair of red seat belts for the car. The car has full instrumentation, but none of the gauges work. I bought the car as a project from the previous owner, and he left it out in the elements, which killed the gauges. The dash is made from aluminum diamond plate. There is no windshield. It is totally flat, so having one cut should be pretty easy. The steering wheel is a quick release all aluminum unit. I was going to install the seats and seat belts, and leave the interior as it sits. The car has been stored in my garage, out of the elements, since I bought it. The wheels and tires on the car are powder coated red MG wires in the front and Cragar SS wheels in the rear. I intended to use these tires / wheels as rollers only, to be used during the build. My plans were to use some steel smoothie steel wheels, taller tires, with wide white walls. I was going to run skinny tires up front, and wide cheater slicks in the rear. The suspension on the car consists of a transverse leaf spring on the front, just behind the grille, and two coil springs in the rear. The car is not drivable in it's current form. The car only has 1" of ground clearance, and that's without a driver. To get the car out of my sloping driveway, I have to flat bed trailer it out. The lowest part of the car is the frame, just below the cowl, where the frame is Z'd. The frame will contact the ground first, the oil pan and trans pan won't. The guy who built the frame did a nice job of designing it. It just needs taller springs and taller wheels/tires. To correct the ride height, I had planned to: replace the front leaf with a Posie's unit to raise the front, and add two taller coil springs in the rear. I also considered air ride for the rear. That will be up to the new owner. In addition, adding taller tire/wheels to the car would give me the additional 4-6" of ground clearance I was looking for. The car also needs things like shocks, headlights, etc. I was going to use a set of headlight / shock mounts on the front from Speedway Motors. I am sure I probably forgot something in the description. That's why I have provided links to my automotive blog for you to review. I do have a set of reproduction cast aluminum Electroline-style headlights that are included with the car. This is a cast aluminum set that I bought on eBay. They are rough castings. Each headlight has two halves and one cast trim ring. I was going to have them TIG welded together and powdercoat them. If I find anything else I bought for the car that I forgot to list here, I will throw it all in for the new owner. The car was built from scratch. There is no title. I will include a bill of sale. I documented everything I have done to the car since starting this project on my blog. There are TONS of photos and descriptions for you to look at if you are serious about purchasing my rat rod project. This is a project. It is a very solid Rat Rod and could be on the road quickly with the right motivated owner. Please ask any questions you may have. Recent health issues force me to sell three of my current hobby cars. I had not planned to do this. I didn't really want to do this. However, since I have no choice in the matter, that is what I am doing. I am not trying to make a profit in selling my cars. This is my hobby, and not a business. Check my feedback. I just sold my '62 Rambler American and have since received feedback for same. I have been an eBay member since 1999 and I have a perfect feedback record. I will assist you or your agent in getting the car to you, but you must make all transportation arrangements, and you must pay all costs for shipping. As far as shipping quotes, that is up to you to research on your own. If you want to come and inspect the car, please by all means, do so. I want you to be happy with the car. This auction starts at only $1999.99. There is NO RESERVE! This auction WILL run it's course. This car WILL sell to the highest bidder. As much as it pains me to list this car for sale, we need the money to pay medical bills and to supplement our income. Also, my health is such that I won't be able to work on my project cars for quite some time. I'd rather sell them than have them sit for years... I also have my 1979 Jeep DJ-5G listed here on eBay, with a starting bid of only $99.99, and NO RESERVE! Thanks for looking at my auctions! On Jul-30-11 at 13:12:48 PDT, seller added the following information: Some additional things that go with the Rat Rod: -The big Rat mascot. -Speedway Motors seat mounts (2). -The Ammo box seen in the interior shots that I was going to install as an armrest/storage compartment. -The car currently has a hand grenade shift handle that is painted with the shark mouth, just like the car. -Included is another brand new Red Billard Ball, like the auction photos show, if you'd rather have that shift knob. -The book titled "How to Build a Cheap Hot Rod". -Cast Aluminum Electroline Headlights Re-Cast Kit. -Pair of Military Truck Tail Lights not shown in the auction photos, but are shown in my blog. -Wrench for the MG Wire Wheels Knockoff Hubs. -Pair of brand new red Seat Belts. If I find anything else that I had purchased for this car, I will include it for the winning bidder. Thanks again for looking at my auction! On Jul-30-11 at 18:05:48 PDT, seller added the following information: Due to recent non-paying bidders, I am forced to make the following rule for this auction: If you have a feedback rating of 5 or less... ...you must contact me before bidding. If you do not contact me in advance, I will delete your bids and block you from bidding. I apologize for any inconvenience. I do not have the time to play games with bidders who are not serious about buying my vehicles.
