Vehicle Detail
Never thought, that I am going to sell my beautiful 1972 Princess. These cars are very hard to find in the United States. Unfortunately I need to sell her because I am moving my research lab out of state and cannot take all my cars with me. This is a right hand drive UK car and it has only 48,370 original miles on 4 cylinder 1.5 litter engine. Car has a shiny paint which I believe is not original for a 1972 car. No major rust issues except small area of paint bubbling in the lower part of driver's side rear door. Gas mileage on this small beauty is amazing and is around 40 mpg! The engine drips some oil which is not unusual for most UK cars, nevertheless, I have a set of seals which will fix this problem. I consulted with a guy his name is Bryan who sells parts for this car Mini Mania of CA and he told me that most common spot where oil can drip is a small seal installed in the area where gear switch handle rod enters gear box. He told me that this seal is easy to replace . I purchased all other seals including drive shaft seals, just in case. All you have to do is drain the oil, remove two pins, pull out the rod, replace the seal with new one which comes with new dust boot too, see photo. Presently I'm engaged with so many things that I don't have even several hours to do this job. All I did was jacked up the front of the car and carefully investigated the wet spot and it looked to me that the guy was right. As for me, I never had a problem driving this car as is. Princess came with dark blue leather seats and is equipped with two rear seat drop down cap holders which adds a charm to interior. This beauty even has a power antenna which works too! All wood grain is in very good condition. Decorative UK plates will stay with the car. Recently, I was able to purchase a radio for this car for $200, but it is not connected yet. I will include also new set of four brand new tires, see photo for this car which I purchased recently too, though present tires still have a good treads and are smooth and not wobbling at all when driving even on high speeds. Car accelerates very quick, and amazingly easy without loosing power goes uphill fully loaded. On highway this car is cruising at 65-75 mph with no problem. Windshield and all other glass parts are clear and transparent and without single crack or chip. I have some small extra parts to this car, original owner's and even hard to find and pretty expensive repair manual too which I will handle to the winner , see photo. Austin Vanden Plas Princess 1300 series are equipped with high quality hydrolastic suspension. I have one gallon of hydrolastic fluid and special hydrolastic suspension pump purchased from UK in case if suspension needs to be serviced. With this, spring free type suspension, riding over the pumps and at rough roads is very comfortable and smooth. All four doors, trunk, and hood close very easy and tight. All gauges on dashboard are working, brakes are very tight, 5 speed manual transmission, 4 forward and one reverse works perfect and switches very nice. Small hint. On these cars for security reasons in order to go into reverse you have to lift the gear box handle up and then put it in reverse position. Speedometer, turn signals, headlights, and horn work good. Choke and clutch mechanisms work very good too. No A/C. Heat and fan work good. This beautiful car is a nice example of classic British automobile which always turns heads on the streets. I believe my car can be driven anywhere with no limitations. Good Luck with bidding!!!
