Vehicle Detail
This is a rare find and I am not just saying that to help sell it. I am an experienced Model A owner and restorer. This vehicle is considered a mid year production Town Sedan with a motor manufacturing date of March 10th, 1930. Main Highlights: · Virtually rust free including the fender connections, cowl and other typical rust locations for a Model A · 97% OEM condition · Interior and exterior is appropriate for a mid year 1930 production car · Cab and door wood is good · No apparent signs of car damage or accidents · No crazy repairs, modifications or coat hanger welding · Rolling chassis and 99% complete car · It’s hard find a restoration car this good Vehicle History: · I bought this car from a retired couple in New Jersey · They owned it for about 10 years · He use to drive it around the neighborhood until he got sick and it sat in their garage about 5 years · They bought the car from a local Model A club member in the area that owned the car for about 12 years · Before they parked the car is was running · I have owned the car for about 3 years Current Condition: · I got the car running by rebuilding the distributer, cleaning the carb and timed the engine; however, the lower crank pulley broke so I replaced it but need to put the lights back on, hook up the throttle linkage, tighten the motor mounts, transmission and few other connection to finish the replacement but the hard part is done. · I never got into looking at the brakes and other areas to determine if it was safe to drive on the road · The previous owners covered the original mohair tan interior with a blue fabric but its original interior with 80 years or wear · Rims are not cracked or welded · The throttle body was bent so I have vintage replacement · My intention was to do a ground up restoration but wanted to get it running to putter around with before summer ended and never had the time so it has sat since I bought it. · The exterior body was maintained for many, many years with brushed on house paint and has done a great job of prevent rust or exposed surface metal. FYI, that is what farmers use to do because they could not afford to have a car painted or there were not places they could take it to be painted so they brushed on house paint · The posted pictures are the ones the previous owner used when selling the car. I will post current pictures soon, the biggest difference from the posted pictures and now is that I pulled out the seats to inspect the undercarriage, interior wood, look for rust, plus the lights are off as noted under the crank pulley repair above, etc. Modifications: · Float-a-motor mount · Toltistm carburetor · Misc. screws, hoses, fittings (typical stuff from a 80 year old car) · Rear trunk rack · Someone tried to turn the fender into a second spare tire mount and did a crummy job · Fire wall heater port was added · Some welding was done on the hood clamps that support the two bars from the radiator to the firewall · The exhaust manifold was cracked so I tossed it and have not replaced it. · It looks like the motor was replaced at some point because the block number is not original ford dies, I assume the rebuilder stamped the rebuilt block with the previous motor; however, I feel strong that the number is an original number because the car parts are correct for a car that was produced mid year 1930 TITLE: · I have a clear New York title from the previous owner and the vin number on the title matches the block number · I started the process with DMV but they would not inspect the car at their office because they do not have the facilities to inspect cars that were towed in and had to take it two the CHP in the next city. The CHP said they only inspect on one day of the week and it’s from 4 hours. I was not about to pay another $80 for a car trailer so I never finished the process. Additional Terms of Sale: · For my protection, consider all comments above as un-reliable and make your own inspections, judgments and inquires before you purchase · This vehicle is sold as-is without any verbal or written warrantee or guarantee · This vehicle is sold as a non-running car in need of repairs, parts and safety checks to make it safe for driving; furthermore, for the purpose of this transaction the brakes system if deemed to be non-functioning and unsafe · At the total and sole expense of the buyer, buyer assume all responsibility for vehicle pickup · If a local pickup, buyer must take possession of vehicle within 10 days of purchase · If buyer is using a car hauler company, reasonable time will be allowed to locate a hauler and get placed in the hauler’s schedule
