Vehicle Detail
Hello guys, I bought this truck from the original owner almost four years ago, he had not used it in several years and was what I considered as a "Christmas Tree Truck" as it was only used once or maybe twice a year in the last decade or two. Truck is as fully equiped as I believe was available; it is a 71 D200 Adventurer SE with 383, AT, PB, Factory A/C, POWER assist STEERING with wood grain exterior and bucket seats. The truck was originally purchased in 71 to be used to pull the family boat and go on occasional camping trips. It is my understanding there was a shell on the bed of the truck up until about 1990 so the inside of the bed is in really good condition with very minor dents. Other than two or three other very small dents about the size of a BB the exterior of the body is in almost perfect condition. This was also a Eastern Washington truck so it had lived its life in a drier climate so there is no rust to be found except for some very minor surface rust. After purchasing I immeadiately drove almost 180 miles to my home just outside Portland with no problems, its just been sitting since. The primary reason I purchased this truck originally was because of how "freakin"complete it was. Every piece of trim is on the truck and in fine shape, there are 2 small pea size dings that would be easily repairable; even the tailgate trim is in excelent condition. The grill does not have any chips or cracks, the very rare tail light chrome trim is flawless. In one if the pictures the front bumper looks as though it is bent, it is in fact very straight. I'm sorry about the truck being dirty in the pictures but if you look close should be able to see virtually all flaws with the truck. The interior will need new seat upholstery primarily on the drivers seat, carpet is missing (better to see the flawless floor boards). The dash pad is crack free as is the steering wheel and padded horn button, the truck even has a the factory headliner. I think one of the best things about the truck is the color combo, I'm not certain what the Dodge truck paint code is but most of you Mopar guys will recognise it as B5 Blue. My goal was to do a cosmetic restoration and install a 440 from another truck along with everything to make it a 4X4, I have just not gotten around to it. Since the truck is as equiped as it is and the overall condition would make for an excellent and ez project for anyone looking for a simple restoration. I see a lot of fluid leaks. does the engine use oil? and any idea of total miles? thanks Dennis - wannatrav Dear wannatrav, I don't see a problem with the truck making the trip as I had driven it almost 200 miles from where I purchased almost four years ago. After bringing home I noticed a small leak on the radiator so I removed and had a local shop "rod and repair"...leak gone. The only real concern I would have would be the brakes, although there was no issue when I drove the truck other than having to add some brake fluid after sitting so long I would suggest at the very least new rubber lines on the front and maybe a new master cylinder just to be on the safe side. As far as the engine is concered the only leaks would be from the valve cover gaskets which is typical for B and R/B motors especially in the trucks because of the exhaust manifold being so close. They only leak a small amount and all but goes away once the cork swells back up. I know there is also a leak on one of the P/S hoses that connect to the drag link vlave' the original owner had been putting fluid in as I found an empty bottle in the cab. Both the engine and transmission started, ran and shifted well. I believe the truck has about 120K miles on it and really has not been driven much in the past 20 years or so. - oldramman On Jul-23-11 at 22:45:25 PDT, seller added the following information: If you have seen the pictures once before please take a moment to look again, I have added an additional 96 pictures, taken this past Friday, to the original count bringing the number of pictures to almost 150 total.
