Pontiac , 1971, Firebird Formula 400 4BBL, 4 Speed. Original Numbers matching drivetrain. Original Black on Black car, and all PHS documented. This is a running and driving project car. Those of you who know Firebirds know that between 1970 and 1975, Black as an exterior color was only offered one year, which was 1971. Breaking down the numbers, there were 53125 total Firebirds produced in 1971, 7802 of which were the Formula model. Of those, about 1694 were manual transmission cars (3 and 4 speed, 350 and 400’s). Now add in factory AC (a rare option in any 71 Firebird), and the black on black color, combination, and you’ve got one rare bird! There were probably only a handful built like this one, maybe this is the only one left? This car has been in dry storage for a number of years. It runs and drives, although it has an exhaust leak near the passenger manifold, runs a bit rough (needs a tune up and probably a carb rebuild), and probably could use a suspension rebuild. Interior needs carpet (see pics), but is all there. Body needs some work too (again, see pics), but is all there as well. Interior needs some work as well (again, see pics). Lots of pics show that the underside of the car is solid and in good shape. The car is 40 years old, so its not going to be perfect, but the pictures should give you a good idea of what the buyer should expect. On Jul-20-11 at 16:19:37 PDT, seller added the following information: It has been brought to my attention that the speedometer in this car is not the original as it does not go high enough (mph). It is the way I received it a number of years ago. Since the vehicle is 40 years old, the current clear title does not list the vehicle mileage on it. As a result, there is no way for me to know the exact mileage on the car. I apologize for the error, and any bidder who is concerned with that can retract their bid.
