Vehicle Detail
I had this listed and the title check showed a title issue. I did some research and it was involved in an accident in NY in 1995. I was unaware of any title issue when I listed it as I do indeed have a clear title. When I purchased the van, I got it from the 3rd owner and he did not mention it to me, or was unaware himself. He sold it to me with a clean title as well. Sorry for any confusion this may have caused. I have my 1986 VW Westfalia for sale. We just got back from a 4000 mile trip. We went from Iowa to southern Missouri, then to Key West, Back up the east coast through the Carolinas, up to Virginia, over to Pittsburgh, then to northern Indiana, and finally back to Iowa. It was a fantastic trip and the Van performed flawlessly. If you have done research on these, you know the 1986 was upgraded over previous models with the bigger 2.1 liter watercooled engines. This van drives great and is very convienent to park and set up. It has 2 beds, a working fridge. The fridge works great on 12 volt or 120. It is setup to work on propane also, but we never used it that way. It has a 2 burner stove that works great. It has a sink, but we never used it. When we bought the van, the previous owner told us the pump was out. I checked and the part is 30 bucks but we didn't fix it. It has the factory installled rear A/C, but it didn't work when we bought it. We took it to a repair shop and he told us it would cost $250 to fix it, but we didn't want to compromise our fuel efficency, so we did not have it done. We have owned it for 2 years and have loved it. It gets 20 mpg and drives great. It has 104,163 original miles on it and is serviced regularly. It has all the original privacy curtains and we have the aftermarket rear hatch and side screens. The pop top is in very good condition and works properly. The upholstery is in excellent shape all the way around. It has the swing away rear table, however it does not have the front table. We have a bra for the front that came with it, but took it off as my wife did not like it on there. It has some rust on the drivers side and has a dent in the rear drives side. We had it parked at a parking lot while in Florida and somebody hit it as they backed out of their spot. I took it to a body shop to get an estimate, and he told me for $2000 he could fix the dent and all rust, making it look like new. I am very honest and will answer any questions asked. I am trying to list any issues it has and can think of nothing else. It is overall a very nice 1986 van. I looked for 1 year for this van and did major research prior to buying this one. I am sure you will not be disappointed with it. Feel free to contact me with any questions. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!
