We have re-listed this car as the buyer did not follow through on the sale. Please do not bid if you don't intend to buy. First, we'd like to thank the very gracious owner of this vehicle, who spent thousands of dollars restoring this car to near-perfect condition, because he's donating the proceeds from this sale to Roanoke FiddleFest Charities! This car was completely disassembled, stripped, and restored from the ground up in 2005. There's so much to mention we'll try to list what's been replaced/restored, but the list is extensive. Let's begin with the interior. As you can see from the photos, the interior was redone with original BMW leathers, and all BMW carpets, headliner, and color-keyed 535i carpet floor-mats. The entire dash and cover were removed, and the dash restored to new condition by Just Dashes of California, including the instrument cluster. All of the steering wheel control levers and the steering wheel were replaced, and all of the door, window, trunk, and front and rear windshield glass weatherstripping is new, also original BMW parts. In addition, the windshield was replaced as well, in order to properly install the dash and new headliner to factory specs. The trunk interior and deck lid were also restored using BMW carpets, and the full sized spare is a matching B F Goodrich tire (5 new BFG tires), mounted on a matching aluminum BMW wheel. Interior door panels were also replaced, and all other plastic parts like console or other parts were either replaced or restored. Mechanically, the car has been meticulously restored. The lower block was bored and pistons replaced, line-bored, and a new crankshaft installed. The cylinder head was also replaced, along with all new valves, springs, and related hardware. The automatic transmission was replaced with a newly rebuilt unit from Accurate Transmissions. Of course all the primary and secondary ignition parts (plugs, wires, etc.) were installed with the new engine install. All new engine, rear differential, & transmission mounts were installed with their components. Engine oil pump, water pump, alternator, Power steering pump, a/c compressor, drier canister, battery, V-belts, hood support shocks, front & rear axle hub bearings were all replaced, and the a/c system was converted to R134 freon. New front & rear struts/shocks were installed, and the rear axles were replaced. Front & rear sway arm links were replaced, as was the complete exhaust system, front to rear, including oxygen sensors. The car is also fitted with new Hella driving lamps, wired to the correct BMW dash switch. The sound system was upgraded to a Kenwood digital system that is wired and ready for Sirius satellite radio, and the system is also fitted with an Ipod jack, and the power antenna was replaced during the restoration. The interior & exterior painted surfaces were stripped and repainted with DuPont base/clear. There are several things about this car that you should know before bidding. There is a slight dent at the right rear passenger door handle, visible in the photo, and the car was driven daily for several years after the restoration, so some normal parking lot nicks are present. The headliner at the rear B-pillars has faded slightly from the sun, and the sunroof power switch is inoperative. As we mentioned earlier, all proceeds from the sale of this beautiful car will be donated to FiddleFest Charities, supporting children's health initiatives, scholarship programs, musical educational programs, and music programs for elder-care facilities in the Greater Roanoke Valley Region of Virginia.
