Vehicle Detail
Not a scratch or speck of dirt on this bike. I bought this bike from an experienced bike guy who restored the bike for his wife. When he finished, she didn't want it. It has been in heated storage for over 10 years - turning the engine over every month or so. Engine and frame numbers match. The bike was stripped down to bare metal (bead blasted) then frame repainted with primer and epoxy (not powder coated). Everything else was was painted and clear coated with multiple coats (not sure how many). The paint looks excellent but there are a couple of flaws (dust) on tank - you have to really look to see them. The engine was painted with heat resistant engine paint. A lot of work has been done to the mechanical side of the bike. The bike only has a bit over 24K miles, but while the bike was apart, the top end of the engine was rebuilt, carbs rebuilt, new filters, new petcocks, new Metzler tires, new front springs and seals, new Westco 20 amp battery, new cables, new exhaust, new seat and a slew of miscellaneous parts, seals, pegs, rubber etc. The bike was checked out by the local BMW dealer mechanic - and adjusted a few oversights - now good to go. I did a basic service on the bike (oil/filter, a few adjustments and new battery), registered the bike and took it out on the road - runs and handles well. Only two mechanical issues I have found - the kick starter doesn't clear the side panel (see photo) in the full up position - it works fine but can't figure out what is going on there. I haven't been able to adjust the clutch the way I would like it - begins to engage 2/3 out while releasing the clutch handle - I would like it about half way out. I might try to look closer at this issue - the clutch is however, fully engaged when handle is released (has appropriate play) and has no slippage. Fork/seat lock key is missing. Otherwise, the bike looks and runs fantastic. Any questions, please ask before bidding. I am available if you use a shipping company as long as we can work out a mutually acceptable time to pick up the bike. There is no title for this bike - just state registration and bill of sale. No Warranty or Return.
