This 1996 Mercedes S500 would make an excellent daily driver for someone who either likes to tinker, or wants to invest a little money to fix some issues. The car actually runs very smooth with good acceleration and smooth shifting. Engine has a "ticking" noise, but it doesn't seem to affect its operation. Air conditioning blows cold and radio plays loud. Shocks are "spongy", but do raise when the car is started. Leather seats are in decent condition with a tiny rip in the passenger seat back and a silver dollar size wear spot on the back seat. Carpet has coffee stains but should clean up OK. Several interior trim pieces are loose or broken. The exterior is dark green and looks decent from a distance. Hood and roof are worse than the sides with fading and wear. There are some visible rust spots on the roof by the corners of the sunroof opening. Power sunroof opens and closes, but interior shade is stuck in the open position. Front valence under bumper is missing the center section. Both front and rear bumpers have cracks in the plastic trim sections. One rim is missing the center piece. I have two keys, but one fob is gone, and the other is broken. All four Goodyear Viva Authority tires are excellent! VIN on the door pillar does not match the VIN in the front plate. I was told that the vehicle was in an accident several years ago, but this is the only evidence I have regarding it. Car drives straight and true, and am not aware of any structural problems. Issues that need to be fixed: Drivers side door outside handle is loose and may be broken. Inside handle does not work properly and is difficult to open. Both rear windows need to be adjusted/repaired to keep them on tracks. All 4 window motors work fine. Battery looses charge after sitting for a couple of days. Starts fine after driving for a while, so charging system and battery should be OK. I think there is a small draw on the electrical system somewhere. . Small oil drip from back of engine. Drivers side mirror is broken off (I do have the mirror), and passenger mirror has been glued on. I have done my best to fully describe the condition of this vehicle. It does have over 235,000 miles on it, and is being sold as-is with no additional guarantees. I can help arrange for shipping at the buyers expense. I do have clear title in hand.
