Vehicle Detail

I purchased this car in the late 80's and drove it for years as a daily driver, in 2000 I had the car totally rebuilt and customized I spent in excess of $7000.00 with parts and labor. The most expense was to replace the rear quarter panel and trunk. I was talked into changing the round headlights to a square which I love but the workmanship of the installation was terrible and has never fit correctly into the buckets. I added shims to at least line them up properly. The rear lights was only changed (see pics) which was also poorly done but work fine and look great. I also replaced the stock 289 with a remanufactured 302 which in my opinion was a mistake the car is too fast for the drum brake system and too heavy for the front end. I had to go to a heavy coil spring and the toe was never set right after that. I also replaced the 14 inch wheels and tires to a 15". I love the look but not the ride. I kept and still have the original 14 inch wheels, tires and caps that are included in the price of the car. The vehicle also starting running at a much higher tempature while running the air and I had a fan shroud crudely made and installed which seemed to help but the temp.still ran hooter than normal although it never overhelted I noticed a bole at the waterpump that had developed a drip that I never corrected. I had the carpet and all the interior redone but the replacement pieces were not made very well and the door panels and rear of the seats started to come apart at the seems. I had some gauge issues before the restoration so i had the dash replaced with a digital display which is beatiful but also had a few issues which I had never corrected everything seemed to work properly except at time the alt gauge would flash. and the speedometer was off by a few miles. I have always had air in the car but with the 302 uograde my pulleys and brackets did not match up so they retrofitted some pieces to make it work but the idler pulley went bad so I cut the belt and never repaced it. I am making an effort to inform you as much as i remember about the car because I have not driven it since 2004. It now sits outside my home starting to rust and it just makes me sick to see such a beautiful adored ride to just sit there. Along with my displeasure of what I thought was a big waste of money spent restoring a car that just had some rust issures around the wheel wells on the quarter. Plus I could not park it anywhere and not be flooded by on lookers and questions when I resturned to my car. She was a thing of beauty. I still love her and appreciate all the satisfaction she brought me over the years. But it is time to move on to greener pasture. I do not have the time or knowledge to restore her back properly and hope that I can find someone that does and will. The car has not been cranked in several years, I had replaced the tank during the redo but I am sure it will need to be dropped and cleaned or replaced before attemping to crank. The motor and transmission has less that 10,000 miles and both worked fine when I stopped driving it. I have done my best to describe her current condition I do not want anyone to think I have been misleading. I have recently been issed a summons to have this vehicle moved into storage and do not want the expence of doing so. So she is heading to a new home. Please feel free to ask anything you like and I will do my best to answer them. Bless you Chris
