Vehicle Detail

Barn find. Rare 1956 Plymouth convertible reasonably complete and relatively minor rust damage. The original door cards are missing, so I'm including a pair from a 56 Fury. There is no dataplate on the cowl listing paint codes and options, but that's not unusual. Most 55-56 Plymouths didn't have them except for the cars assembled in Evansville. Detroit (all convertibles) and Los Angeles didn't put them on. (At least that's my experience having owned forty examples.) The body serial plate at the top center of the firewall says "309-7301". The top mechanism is complete, not broken, and still has most of the fabric cover in place. That's not the usual case for these cars. The floors, rockers, and trunk pan all need sheetmetal repairs, but compared to the two other 56 Plymouth converts I've already restored, this one is a piece of cake. The quarter panels and rockers were opened up to see how much rust damage there was. Not too bad, it's fixable. Car comes with NORS patch panels for the two rear lower fenders and whole rear wheel openings, and rockers. The front clip, engine, and transmission were salvaged from a parts car. The engine is the correct V8-277 serial number P29-151976. It does not turn when I try to turn it by hand. Engine looks complete and undisturbed, as does the attached Powerflite transmission. Questions, call Richard at 408-409-6246 or plymouthranch@gmail.com . Delivery available for California and Nevada, East Coast transport can be had for about $950. Car rolls and steers, but no brakes. I have a pretty extensive inventory of parts available for 55-56 Plymouths, and especially for convertibles and hardtops. I've also done major floor, rocker, and trunk pan restorations on several of these, and can offer advice, tips, and some custom sheet metal pieces. E.g., the left trunk pan wing this car needs.
