Vehicle Detail
The 1952 Belvedere was the 2nd year of that model...a sub model of the Cranbrook. It was a low production model and the only body style was the 2 door hardtop....sometimes called a hardtop convertible as it was made to look like a convertible with the convenience of a hard top. The 1952 Belvedere was the only year that was painted in the distinctive "Saddleback" design, and was available in only 3 color combinations. This car runs, drives, and handles as new, and is so rare on the road today that it never fails to illicit gasps from everyone who sees it. This is a chance for the lucky high bidder to get into a real classic that will be the star of any car show. Last summer, I finally finished the car and won 5 trophies in the 5 shows that I entered, including 1st place in the prestigious Bristol, Connecticut show that had over 500 entries. This car cruises with no effort at all at 65 MPH all day long - no overheating - no glitches - GREAT handling with the new modern radial tires, PLUS 25 MILES PER GALLON ! After a nearly 10 year restoration of the twin to my first car, I have decided to sell my '52 Plymouth Belvedere. I have retired and moved to Florida, and do not have a place to keep it. The car is in covered storage in Connecticut, and I have a friend there who will show the car and will assist in shipping etc. I purchased the Plymouth about 10 years ago from a car museum in Minnesota. The following is a partial list of what has been done to the car since then: New rear springs installed by Vernon Automotive New front springs installed by Vernon Automotive 4 new shock absorbers Recored radiator by Bristol Auto Works All new hoses, belts, gas lines etc by Vernon Automotive Flush and clean fuel tank New brake master cylinder and new wheel cylinders by Vernon Automotive All new brake shoes and linings Brake drums resurfaced by RMJ Machine New clutch and new throwout bearing by Vernon Automotive All new bulbs and headlights etc. New vintage blue dot taillight lenses ($300+ !) Rebuilt generator and starter by DJ's Alternator & Starter New battery New front wheel bearings New reproduction fog lamps New old stock original clock (newly tuned and lubed) (VERY rare and expensive) Body chemically stripped and all (VERY minor) rust issues repaired professionally by Plymouth Auto Body. Complete 4 stage paint in cuystom mixed original Belmont Blue/Sterling Gray with clearcoat Professionally restored steering wheel Rebuilt steering box Complete new interior using NOS fabrics and vinyl from JMJ by Taillon Auto Bumpers and most chrome replated by East Hartford Plating New exhaust system New wide white radial tires (less than 50 miles) ($235 each !) Wheels dyno balanced to 100 MPH by Mikes Auto in East Haddam, CT) Driveshaft balanced by Connecticut Driveshaft The know issues of the car are: Windshield wipers not working. I have a used working replacement wiper motor that goes with car Right front brake squeals when cold and first used. Brakes are BRAND NEW and my mechanic assured me that they only need to be broken in and re-adjusted. Engine compartment is dirty and needs to be detailed and the engine painted. The car has run so very perfectly, I did not take the time to pull the engine and detail. Included with the car will be a car cover, plus an inflatable car capsule (see Carcapsule.com) that cost $400. Note: This car does not have a title. Because of it's age, Connecticut does not require or issue a title.
