Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Up for sale is this 98% restored 1972 Volkswagen Classic Beetle with auto stick shift. The body has been completely redone with new fenders, new body and window seals, new chrome and new hardware. The paint job is also new (it’s a much brighter yellow than the picture shows) and the interior has been completely redone. It’s a real beauty to be sure. Mechanically the car is sound with only 37,000 original miles. I can’t prove this but I bought it from someone who knew the car’s history, plus the engine shows no signs of turning over or having 137,000 miles on it. The tires are good and new brake pads, wheel cylinders and the rubber portion of the brake lines have been updated. The car has a new battery and new ignition parts (points, plugs, wires and condenser) and the carb has been rebuilt. She fires right up every time and the engine has no leaks and does not burn oil. The engine has not been rebuilt as part of the restoration because it has always run just fine and had low miles. Now, what is the 2% that has not been done? Not much really but I’m out of time. The car needs the heating system redone. The heat exchangers are present and working but the insulated ducts from the exchangers to the passenger compartment need to be replaced, as does the cable. The plastic/cardboard ducts also need to be replaced on the inside. The fresh air blower assembly comes with the car but it just has not been installed. Other minor issues are a missing interior rear view mirror and a missing radio. All lights and gauges work, except for the fuel gauge, which works some of the time. The wipers are new but the motor seems slow; but I have not run it very much. The front end is a little sloppy but it probably just needs a steering damper. That’s about it. This car is a real gem and could be 100% restored for just a few more bucks. There is no title. The vehicle was owned in New York and no title is needed for cars older than 30 years. I have the registration and a blank bill of sale. Finally, if you’re interested, please contact me to get any information you need. Good luck! 715-866-4456
