Up for auction with no reserve: 1996 Jeep Cherokee Classic go anywhere custom 4x4 machine, over $17,000 invested!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I purchased it from a soldier who just recently got deployed to Iraq. Most of this narrative was written by him and this is the same add I read when I purchased it. First off, this jeep is fairly rare due to the fact it was one of the last of the older style Cherokees made. it was produced in sep of 1996, and has some unique features such as monotone paint to include the grill and the headlight bezels. also improved window and door seals found on newer model cherokees I have four wheeled this jeep about 5-6 times a year to include places such as the Famous Rubicon Trail in the sierra nevadas, fordyce trail trail in California, all over Ft. Huachuca, Az. Mountains, Ft. Gordon, Ga, gulches off road park in S.C., and a Jeep jamboree around the Cumberland Gap, Ky. this jeep is a great all around off road machine from expedition, to rock crawling, snow wheeling, hunting vehicle and can still drive smoothly at 70 mph on the freeway. the jeep gets around 12-13 mpg whether on the freeway or around town. about 200 miles from a full tank of gas. I bought it as a senior in high school with 107,000 miles and it now has just rolled over 186,000 miles. I always used mobil 1 full synthetic 10w-30 high milage motor oil and a K&M oil filter, with a filter magnet attached. oil changes have been done every 3,000 miles. I used STP fuel injection cleaner every oil change and I have always used 91 octane or higher for fuel. The transmission blew up on me in Ft. Huachuca, Az and I had it completely rebuilt at Atlas Transmissions in Sierra Vista, Az. the owner of the shop builds auto transmissions for Funny cars that have over 500 HP, thats why he chose him. He rebuilt it with heavy duty solenoids, HD kevlar bands and also incorporated a shift kit, for handling off road demands. a HD trans cooler and an interior mounted B&M trans temp gauge was also installed. the rebuild cost around $4,000 and I have papers to prove it. This is a bullet proof motor, one of the best ever made, there are many Cherokees driving around at 400K plus miles and it's rumored there is an owner out there with 900 plus. "Jeeps never die they just get rebuilt"!! Check the reviews on the internet on the Jeep Cherokee. You'll see folks with 250K+ miles & that's just warming it up! I purchased it for 10K including shipping. Getting ready to retire so some toys must go. My opinion: This Jeep is the best I've ever seen! It has power to spare which is impressive as my wife and I owned a '96 Cherokee that we purchased in '98 (owned through '07 before giving it to our son) with 35k miles & this one is a totally different experience driving wise. The other felt like a small SUV where this one feels like "big" powerful strong SUV (similar to my Surburban), it will make you proud & has been put together right as the old dude from Jurasic Park would say, "Spared no expense". My hat goes off to Jessie who did this one RIGHT!! Trust in my feedback, I'm a straight shooter & I wouldn't steer you wrong. It it was a bad rig I wouldn't put my name behind it as I have too much trust in this format even though I've been burned before.... I was burned on a few Subaru Brats that I refused to sell back on line. I gave them to my son who sold them locally where the prespective buyers could check them out in person. This format demands, "trust". And I still believe in the old adage I learned as a child, "Do as to others as you would have them do unto you." Work Graveyard so Email for phone number. $500 Due within 24 hours after close of auction. Full Payment due within 7 days of cloase & can be cashiers check (waiting to clear before release of title, Cash, Wire Funds or Paypal (Yes, you can throw it on your credit card & pay it off later.) I will assist with shipping including driving to a shipping dock if it's cheaper for you or pick you up at the airport if your going to fly in to drive it home. Check out my prized Suzuki X-90 in my other auction... I've had a few questions on the A/C and what's wrong with it. I honestly didn't get it dianosed as my employer, (The City of Henderson) offered a buyout to senior employees & I decided to take it (Last day August 28th). So my priorities have changed. I have a house on the coast of Oregon (Coos Bay) and my wife & I decided that we were going to need a boat and some four wheelers (for the Dunes) down the road & of course I'm going to be taking a pay cut so I needed to liquidate some of my assets (toys i.e. "funstuff ") so this is my sacrafice auction for the betterment of retirement. Last Sunday I flew down to Santa Barabara, Ca. & bought a Ford Adventurewagen to go on our day trips and we have our Chinook Motorhome for the longer one. Retired at, "45". Gonna feel, GREAT! Changed out a few pictures for those who were tired of looking at the same ones & I spiced up the deal. The new pictures show the new subwoofers mounted in the double box on the new Husky rear plastic mat. Also show the spare & jack when it's opened up to gain rear access. I've added to the deal a new never used Jeep folding chair ($40) with built in cooler purchased from Quadratec (check on the website for deatils) and a brand new set of IPF 900xs large spot lights for the roof ($300) that can be mounted to the Warrior roof rack. Bid away... The first 5 pictures show what the Jeep looks like today. Some of the other shots show what it looks like in action & before some of the accessories were added. Let me know if you need to see any more pictures etc... I've been asked recently about the road worthiness for a long trip and my reply is, I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere as it's performed perfectly since I've had it & Jessie, the previous owner had just completed an 1800 mile journey in it. So if you want to save on a big shipping bill I can pick you up at Macarran Airport in Las Vegas & you can start your journey back home or if that's inconvenient, as a work schedule has a way of interferring with our fun, I can take it down to a shipping area of your choosing if it will save you a door to door shipping bill.
