1997 Toyota Land Cruiser Collectors Edition
This is a very nice 1997 Toyota Land Cruiser being sold with no reserve! 1997 was the last year for the 80 series Land Cruiser. A limited run of Land Cruiser 80s was built specifically for collectors and therefore called the Land Cruiser Collector's Edition. The Collectors Edition sported Collectors Edition badging, "Collector's Edition" embroidered floor mats, automatic climate control, wheels with the "D" windows painted dark grey and special grey side moldings, and black pearl badging. The Collectors Edition was only available for the 1997 model year and the package was added to many of the available body colors. This Collectors edition Land Cruiser is in very good condition and is serviced, inspected, and ready for you to drive. This is a no reserve auction which means that this vehicle will be sold to the high bidder at the end of the auction. Don't miss it.
History
This Land Cruiser was one of the last ones built with a manufacture date of September 1997. It was first registered in March of 1998 as a leased vehicle. At the end of the 3 year lease it was turned back in and sold to the second owner in 2001 with 68,000 miles on it. The second owner has owned it since then and recently traded it at a new car dealership. This SUV has a clear and clean title history with no problems to report. It has been very well maintained by the previous owners.
Mechanical
This Toyota is in great shape mechanically. It runs and drives just like it should. Everything works properly. The engine runs smooth and strong. There are no service engine lights or other dash lights illuminated. The transmission shifts smoothly with no hesitation or slipping. The underside is clean and amazingly free of any significant rust(see pictures). We just installed 4 brand new Yokohama tires. The brakes are brand new on the front and nearly new on the rear and stop this vehicle firmly without pulling or vibration. The air conditioning blows ice cold. This Toyota has just been serviced with new synthetic oil and filter. It has also been Virginia State inspected by an independent mechanic. The only potential issue to report is that there is a slight whine at freeway speeds (60-75mph) that sounds like it might be coming from the front differential. It is not very significant but I want you to be fully aware of what you are buying. All the fluids are clean and clear. This vehicle does not have a towing hitch and has not been used for towing or off roading. It is not modified in any way. It is ready to drive anywhere.
Exterior
The exterior of this Land Cruiser is incredibly straight for a vehicle of this age and mileage with no dings dents or significant scratches. The black paint is mirror shiny as you can see from the pictures. There are a couple minor cosmetic imperfections but they do not detract from the overall excellent appearance of this vehicle. The hood has some spotting(see pictures), the rear liftgate and center of the rear bumper have some very small chips or scratches(see pictures) and the corner of the rear bumper has a couple very small scuffs on the drivers side corner(see pictures). Also, the bug guard has some cracks in it(see pictures). All of the exterior panels are original except that the front bumper and drivers side front fender have been repainted. But it is a very good paint job and most people would never be able to tell. I would say this vehicle is in well above average condition for the year and miles. I would rate the exterior an 8 out of 10.
Interior
The interior of this Land Cruiser is nice and clean as well. The seats and carpet are clean and free of stains. There is no smoke or other offensive odors. This vehicle has not been smoked in. Everything works like it should including the power antenna(which tends to break on these vehicles). This SUV comes with two keyless entry remotes and two keys. (It has an aftermarket alarm system with keyless entry). The windows are tinted. The owners manuals are missing and it has the front two floor mats (but not the rears) along with the spare tire and tools. The cargo area is clean and dry. The driver seat does show some slight cracking in the surface but it is not cracked all the way through (see pictures). Also, the wood trim on the dash is discolored in spots like most of the Toyota wood trim from this time period. I would rate the interior an 8 out of 10.
