Vehicle Detail
1953 Pontiac Chieftain Catalina 2-door hardtop Project Car. This is a rare old car not many of these left. It is in original condition except for paint. Paint job is decent, it's just basic enamel, more or less just protected from outside weather. Looks Ok, but not perfect. I believe everything is intact on car. Someone could do a little mechanical work and be on the road in no time. Such as wheel cylinders- clean, tune up and so on. Engine and transmission are supposed to be in great shape, I don't know for sure. It's been sitting for a while. I filed points and fired it up by pouring gas in carb. I did not run it from tank because I know tank needs cleaning or replaced. I noticed the clutch pedal is stuck from sitting.. I am sure you could work with it a little and free it up, but I am not certain. I recently had to take on a new job and do not have any time for tinkering around as I have i the past. Some folks would pick this old car to death but I believe There are still a few people that would appreciate it for what it is, just an old preserved car that is not restored, and you don't have to sell the farm to buy it. Most people dive in way to deep on an old car and have too much invested in it to enjoy it.. Like I said you could pick it to death and start re-chroming stuff, or leave it alone and still have money in your pocket, and have a neat old car to beat around in. As for rust, It is not a rust bucket, but it is not rust free. Floor pans have some, but not bad. Most all old cars have some or have had some rust. I know it's been in Mississippi for the last 25 years, no salt water or harsh winters. Frame is solid, not rusty. Mississippi was NOT A TITLE State until 1969, all I have is a Bill Of Sale. I will give buyer a notarized Bill Of Sale from me. It's very easy to obtain a Title from Broadway Title or a bond from your Insurance Co. Call Me 601-473-9278... I have a February 09 Hemming's Motor News that has a car like it on the cover, and has article on production info I will give to buyer. This is a 3-speed manual shift on Column I forgot to mention. I am not around the computer much so it would be best if you call me with any questions at night for a better description. If you miss me please call back because sometimes I am in areas that my phone does not have coverage. Please remember this is a 58 year old un-restored project car and is not perfect. I have a very very low reserve. I sure hope it goes well over reserve. If it don't I will be Sick. Some people speculate and put ridiculous reserves and end up with no sale. I don't have time for that. Please serious bidders only If you are picky picky picky no offence, but please bid elsewhere. Thanks 601-473-9278. Must be paid for in full 7-days end of auction no exceptions.
