This auction is for a great little 1968 MGB that has had much work done. I was told that the car was numbers matching when I bought it and all the research I have done pans that out but the only way to truly verify that would be through the Heritage Motor Centre ( http://www.heritage-motor-centre.co.uk/store/heritage-certificates-and-archive-services/heritage-certificates.html ) and it takes about 4 weeks to get the certificate. The cars commission number is G.23n.004921F, the engine number is 19GF-WE-H6294 and the vin number is GHN 4 U 146146 G. Again, I'm told it is numbers matching but you need to do your own home work to be sure. The car runs and drives great and has just had it's spring service which included New plugs, ignition wires,oil change, oil filter, air filters, coolant changed, new radiator cap, chrome wiper blades, chrome gas cap and heater control valve replaced. The car starts right up after sitting for a week or longer with out the use of the choke and does not smoke. The engine is very tight and after sitting for a week or longer I have never found a single drop of fluid under the car ( and I have a painted garage floor so I would see it ) The previous owner stated that he did the following to the car: rebuilt motor (about 10k ago) replaced brake lines, new gas tank, installed electric fuel pump, replaced inline fuel filter, replaced clutch master cylinder, replaced clutch slave cylinder, rebuilt carburetors, installed new battery box liners and replaced trunk floor. The car drives out great with a strong clutch peddle and shifts up and down through all gears with no noises or binding when shifting down into 2nd gear. The reverse gear is strong and does not pop out of gear when reversing up an incline. The car has near new high end Pirelli tires ( 175/70 R 14 ) and they really make a difference in the drive and handling of the car.The brake peddle is strong and the emergency brake works great The electrical system is in super condition with the following items working, all front and rear directional indicators working, front and rear running lights working, back-up lights working,brake lights working, license plate lights working, wipers working, horn working, head lights working ( high & low beam ), dash gauge lights working, dash directional indicators working, temp gauge working, oil pressure gauge working, gas gauge working, tachometer working, speedometer working and tripometer working. The paint looks good but should be considered "driver" quality. The soft top is in good condition and has clear windows and "zip" out rear window ( has one small repair on drivers side of about 1.5 inches or so ). The interior is in "driver" condition and does need some work. I have started replacing the carpet and have gotten about 40 to 50% done. I have also replaced the chrome shifter ring and chrome screws.The floors and frame look go to me but not an expert so I encourage onsite inspections to verify condition.The front valance appears to have hit a curb or something but should be an easy fix ( pics' upon request) This is not a "show" car but it is a car that is in nice overall condition, great running, has a super electrical system,with much work done and I believe it is numbers matching (again you need to verify). This is a "No Reserve" auction with an opening bid of $3000 so the car will sell if it gets 1 bid or 30 bids.
