Vehicle Detail

This 1960 Corvette has a 283 (NOM) with a totally correct and restored 245 HP dual quad set-up. The 283 has been slightly warmed over, and one can notice the slight cam at an idle. The four speed is equipped with Hurst linkage. The car comes with both a hard top and a white soft top. The hard top, while totally usable, is a ten-footer in need of restoration to round out the car's presentation. A new white soft top and completely new hardware were installed about six years ago. Recently, meaning in the last three years and 400 miles, this Corvette has also received a new clutch fan, generator, motor mounts, water pump, correct dual point distributor and assorted details. Every effort has always been made to ensure originality whenever possible. Of interest is the fact that this is one of the first Corvettes to have the VIN installed on the steering column, rather than on the left door post. Nolan Adams' reference, The Complete Corvette Restoration and Technical Guide, notes that in his survey he found the earliest steering column VIN to be 00867S101563. Manufactured December 3, 1959, this car - 00867S101544 -is a bit earlier than found in the survey, and corresponds the historic and approximate date of the switch, around November 24, 1959. Please let me know if you have any questions, would like a specific photo, or would like to take a test drive any evening or during the weekend. The car does have a few flaws, of course, including a stress crack in the left front fender. It does look in any case fantastic, as you can see in the photos. I have to note that it's developed a slight vibration at 30 mph that I just haven't had to time to address. If you do opt for a test drive, you'll find that this Corvette sounds absolutely incredible, especially when engaging the second four barrel; the roar is something to experience. Needless to say, this '60 is instantly recognizable; the classic red-on-red combination is striking, with a huge amount of eye appeal.
