Vehicle Detail
Up for auction with no reserve is a beautiful 1962 Oldsmobile Starfire. With a bright and shiny fresh repaint in its original factory colors of provincial white on the bottom and garnet mist red on the top you will not be disappointed. The car is completely rust free including the underside. The aluminum side panels are flawless brand new reproductions. (How many Starfire owners can boast perfect aluminum?) All the stainless trim is in excellent condition having been gone over, removing all the door dings and then polished to a brilliant shine. All new weather stripping and rubber seals were installed. The door grills are excellent with no pits, The hood spear has some very minor pitting as do the L-moldings on the rear quarters. The rocker panel moldings are near perfect. The bumpers are very solid with good chrome and are very presentable, but to be honest would need to be rechromed in order to be perfect. The engine is Oldsmobile's high compression 394CID/345 HP with the four barrel carb. I spent a lot of time last fall detailing the engine compartment and it looks great. The frame is excellent and everything underneath is as solid as the day it was born. The brakes are perfect with a new master cylinder and power booster, wheel cylinders and brake shoes. Overall this Starfire looks and runs great. Some lucky person will be extremely happy with this purchase. Now this is a 50 year old car and not perfect. - here is what it needs; The trunk, was all repainted but will need the carpet and cardboard set. If you wish to go that route, original style replacements are available from Fusick for a few hundred dollars. The car needs a headliner. I have the original material and started to install it but I am no upholsterer and gave up. Also to be an extremely nice ride, you may want to have the front buckets redone. The door panels and rear seat are in great condition. The carpet is new with stitched in the front mats just like the original. The rear mats had holes in them so they are not stitched down. The previous owner replaced the dash pad so it has no cracks and looks real nice but needs to be adjusted. That is about it. Do those three or four items and you will have a perfectly showable classic. I will also include a lot of extra parts for the lucky winner, including owners and shop manuals, protect-o-plate. The car runs and drives great, but because it has sat for so long, I would think that it would not be a good idea to try to drive it for very long distances. Talk to me about delivery and I can most likely help in some way. I have tried to include everything I could think of, certainly if you have questions feel free to ask. I will accept only the deposit via paypal. I urge everyone to come take a look before purchase. I think you will be very happy with this Starfire. With a very minimum of work and shining you will have a show winner. Thanks again for looking at my auction.
