Vehicle Detail
I will not entertain any non-standard payment methods, selling/buying practices or anything of a questionable nature regarding the sale of this vehicle. Any attempt to defraud will be reported to ebay and the Police. There is alot to talk about so I will start with the good stuff before getting to all the needed stuff. This car runs and drives well. I use it to drive 30 minutes each way to work 2-3 days a week. It burns no oil and leaks very little oil if at all. It gets around 30MPG on the open road. The transmission engages all gears and makes no noises and there are no leaks in the transmission that I can tell. There is a nice Alpine head unit in the car with Ipod control and cable. The brakes are firm and the car stops straight ahead if not on a crowned road. (most cars fall away from the crown if not corrected) I bought this car to drive the short distance I used to live from work. I was intending to work on it as I had time and money and use it at the same time. Now I am 30 minutes from work and more needs to happen faster and I cannot swing the bucks to fix it all as it needs and I don't feel comfortable making this run daily without making these needed repairs all at once. About the title. Apparently this car was an insurance loss at some time. It was put back together but not in the most craftsmanship like manner. In fact it was done pretty crappy. Compounding title issues was a moron who bought several gauge units when the original failed and did not have the correct forms filled out when changing the mileage. So the title now reads 180somthing thousand miles, the gauge init say 160something thousand miles but the original was actually around 100,000 miles... can't verify it can't guarantee it- thats just what I doped out from the seller and records and a spare gauge set that i have. The current gauge are not from a Ti but they work. What does this car need to be a good driver? Safety first. Needs new shocks and struts. Needs inner and outer tierods for both sides. Could use new ball joints. Needs a new right rear wheel bearing. Needs a new radiator as this one leaks- I have to refill once a week. Needs a new clutch. The clutch in there now, was broken in well and I suspect it is original- it is smooth and does not slip- it is at the end of its pedal travel, however so it's worn out. While replacing the clutch, the starter and flywheel should be looked at as the starter often disengages while trying to start. Not sure which item is bad here. Windows in doors need attention, as do most old BMWs. they currently do not work and I consider this a safety issue when the A/C does not work as in our subject car. Both doors need new regulators, sliders and lower rear guide inserts. I replaced the passenger regulator but without lower rear guide the window tipped forward and bent the new regulator. :-( The mook also pinched the metal guide holder liek that was going to work instead of getting new guides. Both doors are like this...I had planned on simply repalcing the doors, complete, this was for more reasons than jsut the windows though. The exhaust system is total rice burner- it's loud and obnoxious (but there are times when I'm spanking the gears and it makes me smile~ it's not safe, i doubt its legal and it needs to be swapped. Check engine light is on- codes point to O2 sensor and other issues. Also the Auto Transmission light is on which is a mystery since this has a factory 5 speed- gauge set issue... Now onto annoyances. Things that are not right but won't affect the actual driveablitiy. The body-- man where do I start. The only good panels are the left rear quarter and the lift back. There is half-butted bodywork all over this poor car- the hood was straightened(what?) there are many missing pieces in the front clip system. both fenders are toast, both doors are crap, the right rear panel was smashed and fixed with bondo only. (that hit lead to the wheel bearing problem, im guessing). None of the lift cylinders hold up anything. The interior is decent: the drivers seat is ripped and torn, the carpet is there, the dash is decent without any cracks, the headliner is falling in and has been stapled by some enterprising young bodyworker. the rear seats are decent and everything needs a good washing down. The cigarette lighter works! As this is a major project and this car is old and high mileage, I am selling as is, where is. I intend to make no claim about this cars suitability for anything other than parts, in it's current condition. If I needed a gearbox and an engine, this is where I'd start... Cruise Control, wipers, radio, CD player, Ventilation and heat all work - AC is not currently working- condenser probably leaking. On May-23-11 at 20:04:09 PDT, seller added the following information: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40PLM_hRek0On May-23-11 at 20:12:24 PDT, seller added the following information: On May-23-11 at 20:20:11 PDT, seller added the following information:
