Vehicle Detail

1971 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, Summer Muscle Car A unique Corvette for the restorer or someone looking for a hot summer-fun car. At 40 years old, well-worth restoring and at the same time, if you're not interested in restoring, this muscle-car of the past is still road ready and has been NYS Inpected in April 2011. It contains the normal wear and tear and problems you would expect from a non-restored car of this age. This car was appraised in the summer of 2010 at close to 1 1/2 times the reserve. It comes with many extras and has had some work already done to it. Please don't hesitate to ask questions or come and take a test drive. I will attempt to describe this Vette as accurately as possible and use as many pictures as possible, but, many times a personal inspection and test drive may be desired and you're welcome to do so. First, this Vette has been repainted but was left with imperfections. Even so, you can see from the pictures that between the car always being garaged, it being run sparingly in marginal conditions, and always being waxed and polished, it carries a nice shine and looks very sharp on the road for a 40 year old muscle car. Even though it has a recessed 1" repair mark in the center of the hood (previous owner had used an air cleaner stud that was too long and put it through the hood) it has no dents or dings, but many imperfections in the paint. (bubbles, chips, and peeling behind the rear bumper) Body and frame would be categorized as "average" for its age. Frame is being considered "average" for a 40 year old car, but is solid. Removable T-tops still slide in and out perfectly as does the removable flat-back window. This Stingray is powered by a '71 GM 350 Block engine rebuilt in upstate New York in the spring of 2009 coupled with a 400 automatic tranny. Previous owner listed the engine as being correct with non matching numbers. Engine runs and sounds great with a great set of headers. Air conditioning was disconnected and removed when the rebuild was done, so now there is no air conditioning until you remove the T-tops and the removable flat-back window. When they're removed, you essentially have a full-open air car with overhead rigidity and protection. Transmission shifts well with no noise but since the engine rebuild, tranny has a slow drip. Has not had a significant effect on driving or maintaining a sufficient fluid level. Much of the electrical system was also upgraded in upstate New York. Some factory gages are inoperable (gas) while others (tachometer and speedometer) are operable. Given these facts, it's still considered a "good driver." Other improvements include new rear brake lines and pads, a rebuilt rear caliper on the passenger's side with a kit to rebuild the driver's side. New front brake lines on both sides, with new pads and comes with a set of new emergency pads. A new battery was recently installed in the spring of 2011 with a new disconnect switch. A new Sony Xplod AM/FM/CD player with a removable face and remote has also been recently installed. EXTRAS: * Owner's Manual * 417 page Assembly Instruction Manual by Mid America, (some water/mildew effects) * Lockable car cover * Leather T-Top Bags With a new baby on the way, the summer-fun muscle-car days are over. Everybody has priorities. I will be listing this locally and am reserving the right to end the listing early due to a local sale. I have set the reserve at approximately 75% of it's summer 2010 appraised value. (which is basically what I originally purchased it for) I have considered putting a "Buy Now" price on it, but will basically use that as a local cash price. Once the reserve is met and sale is complete, I will require a $500 PayPal deposit and the remainder payable upon pick-up within a (1) week by cash or certified check. Should you need more time to pick up, that must be specified at the time of sale and a larger deposit will be required. Should you have any additional detailed information, please contact Aaron at airdixie@yahoo.com. Should you be interested in seeing and test driving the Vette, please contact David at (845) 932 - 9819 or e-mail at french38@hughes.net. Please, serious inquiries and bidders only.
