Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my beautiful 1993 VW EuroVan westfalia edition weekender. Never been smoked in, we are non-smokers. This van has 118,000 gentle miles-almost all highway miles. I am the second owner. View pictures carefully and you will understand. This EuroVan is in amazing shape. All maintenance records have been kept in a folder since the van was new. Usually the dealer would perform all maintenance. See photos for a sampling of all of the invoices that have been meticulously kept since the van was purchased new... Fresh brake job on the rear, the front brakes operate flawlessly. Brand new tires on the front, fairly new tires on the rear. Original hubcaps in mint condition. Steering is super tight and perfect-power steering, of course. The suspension is perfect-no issues whatsoever. The exhaust includes a recent muffler and new pipes. The Van drives like a new car. No kidding. Very responsible and fun to drive-nimble and has to be the best parallel parking van on the planet, with an awesome turning radius, (my 9-year old could drive it)...It is incredibly quiet at 65 mph...totally void of creaks or rattles. This Van is mechanically tip-top shape, owned by a mechanic. Always perfectly maintained at regular intervals since new. Audi 5 cylinder inline engine is known for being an extremely reliable workhorse. I typically get 20-22mpg in town and have exceeded 28mpg on the highway. 4-speed automatic transmission. The interior is in amazing condition. It is nearly 20 years old, and there are a very few flaws in the interior including a couple of minor blemishes on the edges of the door panels, one of the covers of the rear seat cup holders is missing, and the carpet shows light signs of use-but no rips, tears or stupid crap. The windows were professionally tinted last year, and they have a 3-yr warranty. The seats are all in excellent condition, as is the dash and all controls. The curtains are all ORIGINAL and in PERFECT condition-when all snapped together with the front blind used, you have total privacy and very good light blockage. The top works flawlessly, and never leaks, creaks, or squeaks. This van is very tight. All windows operate as new. No wind whistling, or rattling or any other clown business. All captain's chairs have dual adjustable armrests. Everything electronic works perfectly, with the solitary exception of the gas gauge, which is not to be trusted. I reset the mileage on the trip-odometer and just fill up whenever I hit 300 miles. The JVC stereo CD player is new, with a detachable face for theft-deterrent and has an input for your ipod, which can be secured with the velcro strip located directly below (see photos). Underneath, there are no leaks. The frame is solid and rust-free. Locking Gas cap, Power steering, Power brakes, Air conditioning works-(could use a fresh charge) Power windows, Power locks, Dual remote mirrors with convex inserts, Intermittent wipers, rear power gate lock, rear defroster/defogger, rear intermittent wiper, rear independent heater (designed by a genius), cruise control, recirculation, refrigerator under seat, comfortable seating for 7 adults, removable mid-jump seat, rear seat converts to a very roomy, comfy bed, rear cargo area includes lower double door-storage area as well as deep center section for concealing valuables (big enough to hide ALL of Mr. T's jewelry)... The top pops up and includes another bed, suitable for two adults. 1/3 of the roof can be raised to allow a 6' 2" adult full-standing position for easy dressing while camping or whatever. Zip up window in canopy works perfectly. Canvas top is perfect, with no holes, no mold, no excuses. I do have the front blind curtain that snaps in place and covers the entire front cab. All curtains are perfect, and stain-free. I also have the rear hatch mosquito-netting, which snaps in place (see photos) so you can open the back hatch and sleep with a nice breeze-but without little insects....Body is in good condition, with a new paint job. Original color paint code was used. Old paint was vandalized and had a few flaws. This van is 20 years old, there may be some flaws in the body prep (I am a perfectionist) but the van has never been involved in a wreck whatsoever. I installed the Curtis-brand rear receiver, but we do not use it to tow. I use it for my bike rack, which is not included. We used this van specifically for summer trips to Colorado, and toyed with the idea of towing a small trailer or pop-up at some point, so I installed a rear light hook-up, which works perfectly. But we never ended up using it. This van is great for trips, great for child transport, with a low side entry, sliding door which has a child safety lock-out device (factory). This van was made in West Germany, designed to perfection, and engineered like only the Germans know how. This auction is an amazing opportunity for someone to get their hands on a relatively low-mileage excellent condition van/RV which was only offered ONE year in the U.S. and became an instant collector's item-there is nothing else like it out there.... I hate to sell, but hopefully someone can take care of this beautiful van and enjoy it as much as I have. Look at photos very carefully. Notice the near-new condition of the weatherstripping, they are original. The entry-tread is also all original, and in amazing condition-a clear testament to the strict care enforced throughout the Van's life (no muddy feet allowed-EVER!) If you interested, please contact me to see in person prior to bidding. Please feel free to ask all questions BEFORE you bid. This auction is a binding contract. If you need to ask your wife, borrow money from your Mom, or wait 6 weeks for a check from Nigeria, please do not bid. Do not waste my time, please go back to craigslist and play there. A $500 NON-REFUNDABLE (that means you don't get it back no matter if you are nice or not) deposit via paypal is due within 24 hours of end of auction. The remaining balance is to be paid to me within 7 days. Bank wire, Bank check, or cash is fine. I will hold the title until my bank verifies your bank's funds. No exceptions. I can help with transport. I can help with any questions also. Please feel free to call me up and ask any questions 785-766-8906 between 9am-10pm CST I have small children, so please don't call later than that, thank you. Good luck, and please view all of the photos-they tell the story better than I can. I have 30 additional photos, if you want to see them, just email me and I will send them to you!
