Vehicle Detail
This is a 1927 Buick 4 Door Sedan. This is one BIG automobile (it looks like the big gangster cars you see on TV) with a big 6 cylinder engine. Buick's balanced their engines and they were know to be smooth running and driving automobiles. I purchased this car about a year ago but just don't have the time or space for it and am offering it on ebay. The car was ran in the late 1980's to early 90's and then was parked in a dry garage. It sat until I purchased it. The tires all hold air and appear in decent condition. The body is in great shape, no rust thru anywhere and a few small spots of surface rust here and there. The interior is fair but I intended to replace it. I think the car is complete and will just need some tinkering. Due to the fact that I have done nothing to the car, I'm selling it as is but I welcome anyone wishing to come and view the car in person. I'm located about 50 miles south of Louisville and a few miles east of I-65. Please contact me with any questions you may have. I'd like payment within 10 days of auction end and removal of the car within 30 days. I'll work with you on pickup, delivery, etc. I could possibly transport for you although with fuel prices, I couldn't do it for nothing but would try to do it as reasonable as possible. I prefer payment via money order or could work with you to receive cash upon delivery. I'm a pretty easy guy to deal with. Thanks for looking. On May-20-11 at 06:01:26 PDT, seller added the following information: I have several manuals and books (shop manuals, etc) that go with the car. On May-23-11 at 05:47:12 PDT, seller added the following information: I have had several questions asked about the Buick and here are some answers and info for everyone: How is the glass in the vehicle? All glass looks good. No cracks or separations that I can see. Any dents in the body? I can’t see anything that stands out. This is not to say there may not be a door ding type dent somewhere on the body but there are none that stand out. What is the dimensions of the car? The Wheel Base is approx. 120 inches. The width of the car is 67”. The length of the car from the furthest point forward to the furthest point in the rear is 15 feet. These dimensions are close but could be plus or minus an inch or so. This is a large car, the largest Buick made at the time I think. Will the car fit on a regular auto hauler? Yes, I transported the car on a 14 ft car hauler flat bed. It filled it up but did squeeze on OK. Can the interior be used? It could be but I planned to replace it. The interior is definitely original but it shows its age more so than the rest of the car. You could do some repairs and touch up on it and it would probably be OK but that’s all personal preference. Is the wood OK in the body? Overall I’d rate it solid. I’ve rebuilt a few Model A’s and with each when I tear into them I’ll find a place here and there than need replacing. There is one small spot, I’d estimate about 6 inches in length, at the rear drivers side at the top corner that many need attention. The wood is easily accessible when the headliner and interior is removed. Is the paint original? I’m sure its not but seriously doubt that it is. It looks like it might have had a 1940’s era repainting. I planned on touching it up and leaving as is. However, you can see some blue in a spot or two where the paint has chipped. If you go to this ebay item you can probably see the original color scheme on the car (and possibly the original color too). 290386743011 How much rust is on the body? Virtually none. There is a few small places where there is some surface rust where paint has flaked off but nothing major. Have I had the car running? No, I haven’t done anything to the car and only know it was running and being driven in the late 80’s and early 90’s. What is the reserve? While I won’t reveal the reserve I don’t mind mentioning that its not far from the current bids on it and I’m confident the car will sell. How long can the car be left where it is until picked up? As I mentioned in the description, I’d like to see it removed in 30 days but I’ll work with the buyer and if its up to a couple of months I don’t see that’s a problem. Its in insulated dry storage. How do I prefer payment? Cash or money orders are best for me. I have another item I’m purchasing so as I stated in the description, I’ll need the money in short order. If the purchaser comes to pick it up within a week, they can bring cash. Otherwise money orders would probably be best. The purchaser can contact me and we can work that out. Would I be interested in any trades on the car? No, but thanks for offering. I need the space and as mentioned, I’m purchasing something else to put in its location. I mentioned in the description that I could possibly help on delivery. I could transport up to 300 miles and could probably do it for a little over $1/mile. I'll let you decide what is best on this. Other questions? Since its close to the auction end you can give me a call at 270-765-9540. Thanks again for your interest. On May-23-11 at 13:51:36 PDT, seller added the following information: Additional Questions: Does the Car have a clear title? Yes, the car is titled in Maryland. Since I never placed the car on the road I never transferred into my name. The title has been signed and is ready for transfer. I'll give you the title and allow you to directly transfer into your name. If you had rather I transfer in my name first and then to you, we can do that. Luckily, transfers and taxes for historic vehicles is very inexpensive here in KY (all historic vehicles have a value placed on them of $200, no matter their actual selling value) so if you prefer I put the car in my name and then to you, we're only talking about a few bucks to do it. I'll let the new owner decide as its no problem with me either way.
