Vehicle Detail

1970 Dodge Charger 500 This is a numbers matching automatic on the floor 1970 Dodge Charger 500 with a 383 4-barrel engine. The 500 model was a step up from the standard SE model and one step below the R/T. This is a terrific Charger for those who want a classic muscle car that is ready to be driven around on the weekends and taken to some car shows. This is in very nice presentable shape but not a 6 figure show car. It is the perfect car to have in the garage as a nice manageable project but still be able to drive it around and show off at local shows. This car gets looks wherever you go and is instantly recognizable to both young and old due to shows and movies like the Dukes of Hazard (The General Lee) and The Fast and Furious (Vin Diesel’s supercharged black 1970 Charger.) I will try to explain the condition of the car, both good and bad, to the best of my knowledge and capability so you will know exactly what you are bidding on. The Good: Engine: 383 cu in (6.3 L) 4-barrel 335 horsepower. Runs strong. Transmission: 727 TorqueFlite Automatic. (This transmission was completely rebuilt and repainted in 2005 and had a shift kit installed which shifts the gears harder. More like a muscle car vice a luxury car.) Power brakes, power steering Duel exhaust with glass packs. Sounds like a muscle car should. This car comes with the ORIGINAL BUILD SHEET, pictured, and a lot of original and reproduction paperwork to include: 1970 Charger Owner’s Manual 1970 Charger Fact Sheet 1970 Charger Wiring Diagram Various original Charger magazine ads. I have also decoded the build sheet and made a reproduction sales window sticker. The following are new or newer items on the car: · New Holley Street Avenger 4-barrel carburetor · New Edelbrock Performance RPM intake manifold · New power brake booster and master cylinder · New Interstate battery with cover to make it look 1970’s original · New distributor · New wires · New coil · New radiator · New freeze plugs · New engine wiring harness · New rear chrome bumper · New Charger emblems · New Crankshaft pulley · New Magnum 500 15" x 8" wheels with center caps. (You will also receive the old 14" wheels. One of which is mounted to a tire and serves as the spare tire.) · Car was painted Hemi Orange, had a new black vinyl top, and a completely new black interior installed (carpet, seats, console, door panels) in 2003. All still look brand new. · Car also received a new trunk pan in ‘03 and is still completely rust free. · Car has a Dixie horn install, like in the Dukes of Hazard. This can be easily changed back to the factory horn by simply changing one wire under the hood. Takes seconds. The Not So Good: · Car has a fuel cell in the trunk. It does not have a gas tank. This car was not raced, which is what fuel cells are for, it’s just the guy I bought it from didn’t have the time or money to put a new gas tank in and this was the quick fix so he could get it running and sell it. What that means is that you fill the fuel cell up with gas by popping the trunk. This also causes the fuel gauge on the dash to be inoperative. · Car will need a new starter soon. The car starts up great, but once it has been running and gotten up to temperature, if you turn the engine off it will not start back up, due to starter not turning, for about 20-30 minutes until the starter cools down. Once that happens the car starts right back up. I have been told by several mechanics that this is a sign of the starter going bad. · Paint is presentable, but was done by an amateur. Therefore when standing very close to the car, less than 2 feet, you will notice some orange peel, minor runs and overspray. · This is an original A/C car but the A/C in not hooked up. All parts will be provided but do not have knowledge of their potential working condition. · One minor rust spot (bubbles) on rear driver quarter panel behind wheel. Will show in pictures. · Electronic Headlight motor works but not properly. When plugged in and key turned to the ACC position the headlight doors open no matter what. If the headlights are turn on or not. They do not close when plugged in. Therefore I have always kept the motor unplugged and operate the headlight doors manually via the knob located under the hood. · Car does not have any seatbelts. Car is still legal due to the age of the car. Seatbelt laws don’t apply. If you have any questions or would like to see the car please contact me and I will be happy to accommodate. This car has a clean title Terms of Sale: You are entering a legal binding contract when you bid on this Charger. Ask all questions before you bid.
