We, the second owners of this efficient and reliable vehicle, purchased it from a dealer in Sep 2007 w/ 65,000 miles. A month after purchase we took it in for a mechanical inspection, and performed $1,900 worth of maintenance and repair. When the car had 90,680 miles, we took it in for a mechanical inspection. As is often the case, a number of other recommendations were made, as follows: brakes, wiper blades, air filter, oil leak detection, tie rod ends, alignment service, ignition parts, coolant system package, struts, and timing belt. We spent $600 on the brakes, the A/C works great w/o the recommended service, and the oil/air filter service is performed regularly by another provider. We elected to sell the car, as it's an extra and not needed, rather than do the extra repairs. In Mar '09, we replaced the tires @ 78,000 miles. In Nov '10, we took the car in for an state inspection, and the mechanic recommended, in addition to the things identified in Apr '10, replacing the broken left turn signal, damaged driver's-side seat belt, radiator hoses and valve cover gasket, and cleaning the fuel injection system. We replaced the driver's side seat belt and turn signal did the fuel injection cleaning but again elected to decline the other recommendations. The battery was replaced March '11. The car runs well and looks pretty good for a '98, but it has obvious signs of wear, as can be seen in some of the photos. Specifically, the front and rear bumpers, left front fender, left hood, right side-view mirror mount, and antenna have minor damage. There are various other small body-side dings. The car could use a little body work and a fresh coat of paint. Further, the seats and carpet are in need of repair or replacement. The base board in the hatchback was damaged and removed.
