The first production using a V10 was ready in February 1990 and official approval was given by Lee Iacocca a few months later. Carroll Shelby was a key member in the development of the Viper, involved with the initial designs and his own AC Cobra was the source of inspiration for the Viper. He drove a pre-production Viper as the pace car for the 1991 Indianapolis 500 and finally in January 1992, retail shipments finally began. Originally carrying a price tag of over $60k, these were highly sought after and have been featured in numerous television shows, films, music videos and video games. 2010 saw the end of 18 years of production, but the Viper has definitely become an iconic car in the history of automobiles and will continue to turn heads each time one cruises by!
