PLEASE SCROLL DOWN TO VIEW 100 PICTURES OF THE CAR Up for auction is a beautifully restored 1969 Mercedes Benz 300SEL 6.3. This is an early 1969 model with the sought after 9:1 HIGH COMPRESSION motor. This was sold at a dealer in New York in 1969, driven for a year and then taken to the Pacific Northwest by its owner. It was in the Seattle, Washington area until I bought it 4 years ago. Since I have owned it, the car has been put through a major cosmetic restoration and all the mechanical issues have been sorted. It has 70,000 Miles and is the best 6.3 I have ever driven. It comes with a huge file full of service records, its original toolkit and all of its owners manuals and service booklets. The car recently went through a complete cosmetic restoration, which included a complete strip down and doors off paint job. The painter sprayed Spies Hecker paint products on the car. While putting the car back together, we installed: New Door Seals, New Trunk Seal, New Pillar Seals, New Front Glass, New Front and Rear Windshield Gaskets, New Sill Mats, New Window Channel and Felt, New Grill Seal, New Cowel Air Filters, New Side Trim, Sound Padding and New Rubber Trunk Mat, all New Buffers and Grommets, New Door Handle and Trunk Handle Seals. New trunk emblems were also installed. We also installed new H-4 headlights and new Hella Fog Lamps. New amber euro lenses were installed on the front lights. The front amber lights are actually working turn signals and the fog lights are operated by pulling the headlight switch out. The tachometer and speedometer were sent out and rebuilt by Palo Alto Speedometer. The Original Becker Grand Prix radio was professionally rebuilt by Becker NA as was the Antenna. A $3,000.00 dollar sound system was installed with Focal speakers and an Alpine head unit that is Ipod friendly. It is a high quality sound system and nothing on the car was modified in order to handle it. The car also has just had perfectly restored Macassar Ebony wood installed (Madera Concepts). It also has new carpet, leather and headliner. The brakes were completely rebuilt, all calipers have new seals and there was a new Master Cylinder installed. On the interior we installed a new Ivory Steering Wheel and Ivory Horn Pad. All Four Tires are also nearly new. Engine: The motor in this car was has had all the fuel components rebuilt and replaced. The car idles perfectly and is super strong. In fact it is the strongest 6.3 motor I have ever driven. This car just keeps pulling and the torque is heavenly. This car can be driven anywhere anytime. Serious buyers please feel free to test drive it! Transmission: The tranny in this car is great and has never given me any issues. It shifts crisply and the kick-down solenoid is working as it should. It does have a slight amount of leakdown, but that seems to be a common issue amongst the 6.3 tranny. Paint: The Spies Hecker re-paint on this car is amazing. The car was completely stripped down and the doors were taken off for paint. The deep burgundy color on this car is gorgeous over black leather. While the paint job is truly stunning there are a few flaws. The worst flaw is about 1 inch long above the right rear bumperette. The rest of the flaws are just tiny little miniscule issues. Suspension: The suspension on this car is extremely tight and there are no odd noises. The air suspension on this car is also perfect, it does not drop at all. I have left this car for 3 months at one point and it did not budge. Leather: The leather in the car was re-done and new seat pads were also installed. The door panels are original but were re-dyed and are excellent. The carpets are also brand new and perfect. Wood: The woodwork was restored by Wood Restoration Specialists Madera Concepts and is flawless. This car was fitted from the factory with Macassar Ebony wood. The wood was re-finished and the veneer is original. For better looks I also added three pieces of wood that wrap around the sides (A-Pillars) and top of the front windshields. It really makes the car look great. Chrome: The chrome on this car is excellent. The front and rear bumpers have only tiny scratches and are near perfect. All anodized mouldings around the windows were replaced with new ones except for the two on the upper part of the rear glass and the lower front glass ones. The headlight doors were re-chromed and are in perfect condition and the sill chrome was also restored and is perfect. The car comes with its owners manuals and service manuals and a complete documentation of the restoration and service history. It also comes with a new spare tire and its original toolkit. The front headrests are also included with the car. The auction is scheduled to end May 18th, 2011 at 12 Noon Pacific Time, 2pm Central Time, 3pm Eastern and 8PM GMT.
