Vehicle Detail

This is a 1984 1 ton CUCV military truck with 9,800 original miles on it. It has a 6.2 diesel, Dana 60 front axle, 14 bolt locking rear 4.56 ratio, automatic transmission with overdrive. air-condition, custom interior. It started as a 1984 military M1010 ambulance. Thses ambulances from this period saw very, very little use in the military. This model was mostly replaced by the Humvee version around the time frame of the first Gulf War. This ambulance was hand-me-downed from the U.S. military to the Georgia Emergency Management Agency. It was used as a backup ambulance and saw very little use. In 2004 the ambulance was again hand-me-downed to the Columbus Ga. police department where they did some extensive modifications. They needed a flatbed 1 ton to pull there Police mobile command center, which was a goose neck trailer. So they transformed the ambulance into what you see here. Again it saw very little use in the police department. Here are some of the changes. They put in a overdrive transmission to get this low geared truck up to higher hiway speeds. Added chrome front bumper and brushgaurd with winch mount. They moved the factory ambualce air-condition blower to its under the glovebox location that it is in now. They installed a custom set of seats, they look brand new. They replaced the ambulance body with a flatbed. They painted the truck Columbus Police blue. I have paper work showing transfer from GEMA to Columbus Police dept. I can apply for a title for this truck if you need one, many states don't need a title for this year so I am not getting one if not neccesary. The truck is in very good condition. The transmission must be a 700r, it is the first generation overdrive and it needs no computer. All glass is intact and no cracks. The dash is an aftermarket cover and has on crack near the center but still looks good. Tire size is 285-70r17, they have about 1/4" depth. Rims are from an H2 Humvee, I installed these. The glow plugs and controller work as they should with the key switch, you turn the switch on and the wait light comes on for about 10 seconds or so and then you crank the motor, on cold days I have to do this twice then the engine cranks. This truck has been in GEORGIA so no rust, all rocker panels and fenders are excellent. All lights including the LED taillights work. Horn works. I am putting a new hose on the AC to get it going, it is a 134a system. Heater works. The bed appears to be built by a fab shop or maybe someone at the city maintenance shop, it is not perfect like a mass produced bed but is solid. This truck runs smooth thru all 4 gears and cruises nice. If the low mileage is a puzzle to you then google, m1010 ambulance, and look at the many examples of military surplus ambulances with very low mileage just like this one. In the fleet of military vehicles, the ambulances don't near the amount of use that a truck would get. It is very to find the CUCV military pickups with less than 50,000 miles on them. I am selling because I trade vehicles nad other equipment regularly. I have had the truck for several months. It has 4 wheel drive that works as it should.I found this calculator for engine rpm, the 700r transmission has a .7 overdrive ratio, gears are 4.56 to 1, tire diameter about 32, so here is what it came up with. the calculator can be founf at http://www.offroaders.com/info/tech-corner/reading/calculators.htm#FindRPM Find RPM MPH: Axle Ratio: Transmission Ratio: Transfer Case Ratio: Tire Diameter: RPM:
