Vehicle Detail
The 1952 Belvedere was the only year that was painted in the distinctive "saddleback" design. This car runs, drives, and handles as new, and is so rare on the road today that it never fails to illicit gasps from everyone who sees it. This is a chance for the lucky buyer to get into a real classic that will be the star of any car show. Last summer, I finally finished the car and won 5 trophies in the 5 shows that I attended, including 1st place in the prestigeous Bristol Conn. show that had over 500 entries. After a nearly 10 year restoration of the twin to my first car, I have decided to sell my '52 Plymouth Belvedere. I am moving to Florida, and do not have a place to keep it. I purchased the Plymouth about 10 years ago from a car museum in Rogers, Minn. Here is a partial list of what has been done to the car since then: New Rear springs installed by Vernon AutomotiveNew Front sprints installed by Vernon Automotive4 new shock absorbersRecored radiator by Bristol Auto WorksAll new hoses, belts, gas lines etc by Vernon AutomotiveFlush and clean fuel tankNew brake master cylinder and new wheel cylinders by Vernon AutomotiveAll new brake shoes and liningsBrake drums turned and resurfaced by JMJ MachineNew clutch and new throwout bearing by Vernon AutomotiveAll new bulbs, headlights, etcRebuilt Generator and Rebuilt StarterRebuilt Carburator and chokeNew batteryNew front wheel bearingsNew reproduction fog lampsNew old stock original clock (newly tuned and lubed) (VERY rare and expensive)Body chemically stripped and all (very minor) rust issued repaired profesionally by Plymouth Auto Body in Plymouth, Conn.Complete 4 stage paint in custom mixed original Belmont Blue/Sterling Gray with clearcoat by Plymouth Auto BodyProfessionally restored steering wheelRebuilt steering boxCompletely new interior using NOS fabric from JMJ by Taillon AutoBumpers and most chrome rechromed by East Hartford PlatingNew Exhaust systemNew wide white radial tires (less than 50 miles)All wheels dyno balanced to 100mph by Mikes Auto in East Haddam, ConnDriveshaft balanced by Connecticut DriveshaftThe known issues with the car are: Windshield wipers not working. Brakes are brand NEW and my mechanic assured me that they only need to be broken in or re-adjustedEngine compartment is dirty and needs to be detailed and the engine painted. The car has run so very perfectly, I did not take the time to pull the engine and detail. The car will be sold with a trunk full of spare parts including an ultra rare 3 piece window set that is impossible to find. Also included will be 2 car covers, plus a inflatable car capsule (See Carcapsule.com) that cost $400. Note: This car does not have a title. Because of it's age, Connecticut does not require or issue a title.
