Custom 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse I have owned this car for over 7 years now and it has never caused me any problems. when I first received the car It was completely stock and over the years I slowly turned it into more of a show car. if you are looking for a car that has thousands of dollars worth of engine mods as well as transmission mods then this is not the car that you should be looking at. There are minor performance upgrades such as headers, cat back, cool air intake, performance plugs and wires, Megan racing suspension, rear strut tower brace, however most of the work has all be cosmetic. so the first question would have to be: What all do I have invested in the car? the list is as follows: Full Blitz body kit (polyurethane in the front, fiberglass side-skirts and rear bumper)Euro tailsXeon Headlights (the brightest I could buy for the car.) This car was at one time sponsored by Mishimoto, AEM, Kyowa Racing, and a few other name companies. The car was my daily commuter until I Moved to Virginia for work, that is where I had the inspiration to get my car ready for the track so I could race it at VIR (Virginia International Raceway) I sent many pictures to many different companies trying to get my car sponsored and to my surprise I did. Parts were still not cheap but I was on my way to getting the eclipse ready. I Focused on looks first, tried to make the car look the best that I could hence the body kit and the interior paint, then I focused on control, installed the racing suspension and the strut bars, then engine, I installed the exhaust and cool air intake, and then I got transferred to Maine. As the time has gone by it has been killing me to watch the car just sit there. I drive it every now and then just to keep all the moving parts from seizing but it is time for someone else to take the wheel. As the car sits now it is 90% ready for 2 different things and 100% ready for another. 90% show, and 90% track. get a fuel cell and a roll bar and you are ready for the track, put some sub woofers in the back and you are ready for show, and if you want a good car that is reliable and good on gas then keep it like it is. it may have racing suspension which is basically the same as driving a corvette around as far as bumps in the road go. (believe me I know. I have a C5 corvette so a bump in the road does not go unnoticed) The thing that surprises me the most about the car is how well it handles now. used to there was a little body roll but not any more. My Vette may be faster but the eclipse handles WAY better! and no need to worry about a camber alignment, that has already been taken care of. All in all I give this car an 8 out of a 10. -1 point because It is an automatic ( that is just a personal preference though, if you want this car and want it manual, there are websites that will accept your automatic transmission and swap it with an entire manual swap kit, all you pay is the kit fee which is around $300 and the shipping) and another -1 just because not every car that is almost 13 years old is going to have a perfect body. this one is no exception to the rule, there are no major body damages just a few small spots (no more than 3) that are hardly noticeable. all in all I have but a lot of time and money into this car. as I am sure you have seen before. Your gain is my loss.
