Vehicle Detail

Note: Please be sure to scroll this window down to read the complete description.1985 Honda V65 Sabre VF1100S motorcycle is almost ready to ride! This 121-horsepower sport touring bike was one of the fastest on the road when it came out. This one needs some TLC to make it ready to ride again. I am the second owner. Adult-owned and ridden; not abused. Current mileage is 48,845.4 miles. In its favor: Rear tire is relatively new and in great shape; there are no dents or significant dings; the instrumentation cluster, engine, transmission, and electrical system are all functional. Hondaline fairing (no lowers). I have ridden the bike in the last six months. What it needs: Choke cable replacement, new seat cover (original is cracked, as shown), front tire, complete front and rear brake job (including rear rotor replacement), new horns, replacement rubber hoses, battery, main fuse (original didn’t blow—it broke due to corrosion; I have a piece of wire in its place right now), oil and filter change, coolant change. Other issues: Bike has never been down in motion, although it has been knocked over when parked, resulting in minor scratches on the right side of the fairing and a slightly bent front right turn signal mount and some cracking of the plastic to the left side of the right fairing mirror (mirror glass is fine). Brake lever was bent and subsequently replaced. Right horn plastic trim is cracked. Speedometer and tachometer plastic lenses have minor cracking. Clock hour-set button isn’t functional. Moderate weathering. Someone unsuccessfully attempted to punch the ignition—twice. The first time the damage was bad enough I had to replace the ignition key assembly (at over $100 for the part). The second time caused only cosmetic damage. Because of the first incident, there are three keys for the bike: one for the ignition, one for the original ignition (which now operates the helmet lock and the toolkit compartment), and one for the locking fairing compartment. One of the fairing gauge hole covers flew off the bike years ago (see photo). Washington State license tabs expired in April 2010, after which point I’ve ridden it very little, just to keep it running. I have the title as well as service receipts. Bike is available for inspection in Lynnwood, Washington. If I jimmy the choke mechanism and connect an external battery, I can also start and demonstrate the engine for you. Bike is not test-rideable unless bidder has a battery (and proper endorsement). Bidders outside the Seattle area must arrange their own preparation and transportation.
