Vehicle Detail

Never before publically offered two owner 39,000 Original Miles on this Absolutely magnificent 1964 triple Black Pontiac Catalina Bucket Seat Convertible!!!!!! This is not a star cheif or Bonneville but a Catalina This car is the real deal!! Seller bought this low mileage beauty in 2003 from the original owner in Jersey City NJ where the car had been garage stored since day one. The eccentric first owner bought the car, brand new from W & S Motors, Inc. Pontiac –Tempest on Hudson Boulevard in West New York, NJ in the early winter of 1964. Original owner did not notice the need for a/c until early spring when he drove the car on a business trip south. Only a few months after purchasing the car he returned it to the dealer to have a/c installed. That system still blows cold today. The current owner purchased the car from the original owner after searching 1964 triple black Pontiac Catalina for years. The car was found on one of those dream calls!! The original owner would not discuss the condition of the car. He simply said “if you are interested you can come look. That way I will know if you are serious or not!” I then flew delta airlines into Newark NJ the following week. Was taken to a single stall garage behind an inner city old home. The door was slowly opened. There she was! I asked if I could drive it? He said “no, it has not been moved in years, but if you want to buy it this is the price.” After looking at his antique collection and playing with his two dogs, I said “we will take the car”. A transport truck was sent from Atlanta, Georgia the following week and when the car returned to Atlanta. We immediately changed the oil and redid the brakes from front to rear. The tires had been put on the car in 1974 so I added the Coker Wide Whites….I know they aren’t correct but they look incredible and make the triple black beauty stand up and out all the more. The car has its original Top. I asked the elderly former owner when the top had been replaced and he said “never”. The car had not been driven more than 500 miles from 1979 – 2003. The top looks wrinkled in the photos due to the fact that I keep it down 90% of the time. And had put it up for the photos. When it is up and warmed by the sun the wrinkles fade. According to an oil change sticker (which I still have) that was on the left door jamb when I bought it, the car had 37,557 miles on it in June of 1979. He did not drive it much more than 500 miles in 24 years and i have only put the difference on it since i have owned it. The car has a rare option that I have not seen on another but is listed in sales brochure. It has the original white tonneau cover that snaps over the interior from trunk lid to dash. I have never taken it out of plastic bag. It also has the top cover that can be seen in place in the photos. The car has its completely original interior with bucket seats. AM Radio with front and rear speaker option. Power top, power steering, power brakes. It has the 389 2 barrel motor with the Hydro-Matic Transmission. As stated earlier it has dealer installed a/c. The carpet is slightly faded but original and in excellent shape. The interior is near flawless as can be seen in photos. The only changes I have made to the car are in adding seat belts and changing to the wide white wall tires. The radiator was replaced last year. The heater core was replaced this year. Both the radiator and heator core developed leaks due to years of sitting and not being driven often. I have the original radiator still which has developed a slight leak so I replaced it. All glass is excellent. The exterior was near flawless with exception of right rear quarter panel that had been key scratched years before according to the first owner. The spot paint had thinned before I purchased it so I had the right rear quarter repainted. That to my knowledge is the only paint work on car. The car still looks new to the eye for the most part. I have never had the car buffed…..only hand waxed a couple of times in the near ten years I have owned it. And in fact I have only washed it a few times. The chrome looks very very good on the bumpers for a 47 year old car. All the aluminum and other metal trim is as represented in photographs. The spare tire has been removed in one of the trunk photos to show the original and rust free state of the trunk. the matting in the trunk is the original. Again this is a two owner 1964 Pontiac that has never been offered for public sale before. I have the original Salesman’s card. The owner’s manual, the owner protection plan booklet with the owners ident-o-plate inside the back cover showing the original owner and address. I also have a few additional things including many years of insurance registration and a few work orders. The car drives amazing and can be driven at modern highway speeds without worry. It is stable and strong. The only thing I considered doing that I have not done is have the motor and compartment detailed. The photo you see is un-doctored and shows original condition of engine. Notice the add on air unit. If you want a redone 64 Pontiac you can find them…..want a low mileage original car?? Here it is. Why am I selling? Two kids in college, 23 and 20, and its time to lessen the personal collection. My father had a triple black Catalina with bucket seats when I was a little boy so I wanted this car bad and paid for it ten years ago. I have several other cars and a boat and have decided to keep only my 1955 Cadillac Convertible and my Century Coronado Cardel Classic Boat with its 440 Chrysler motor. The other stuff is for sale. This is the one I will probably kick myself for selling but I really like the old Caddy though it’s not near as nice. The Sale I hope all will understand I am not interested in tire kicking conversations nor joy riders on this one. I am looking for a real buyer. Please do not bid on this car unless you are able and prepared to buy it when the day (auction) is done! Please do not bid on this car if you have negative feedback. If you are new to ebay please e-mail me before bidding on the car. The car is sold “AS IS” where is and there are NO warranties expressed or implied. The car is located in an Atlanta Suburb and is within 25 miles of Hartsfield Jackson International Airport. Fly in and drive her home. But remember it is a 47 year old car. Though I would not hesitate to start for….you know…..”California”!! I am a private collector. Not a dealer. The car must be paid for in cash, US bank certified funds, or wire transfer before seller releases possession of car and transfers ownership. Transportation Cost are solely at the expense of the buyer. Payment must be made in full within seven days of auction close. Car is titled and registered in the state of Georgia. The photos tell the true story. Owner reserves the right to end auction at anytime unless the reserve has been met . The "buy it now" price disappears after the reserve is met. Please do not bid on this car unless you intend to buy the car. If you do not understand how ebay works...please research it before you bid. This is a real auction for real car. If you bid on this car please have the money to back up the bid.Thank you. Any questions please send a message before bidding.
