1969 Pontiac Firebird Convertible Trans-Am Clone Update for Wednesday morning: Question from Steve- A: Steve,I am not a firebird expert, but the pans look fine to me. A few weeks ago I removed the carpet, hit it with a power washer, and put it back. The idiot prior owner used residential sponge carpet padding underneath (like a D.A.), so there was very minor surface dusting on the pans. I stood on the pans (6'4", 235#) and they seemed solid. I cleaned them and put the carpet back. Restoration: -You will need to clean and restore the top frame & gaskets when you put the new (included) top fabric on. -New dash bezel is a good idea -a/c controls are gone, but you get new from Vintage with the new a/c system (you may not need a/c up there) -windshield has a crack -blast & repaint the original wheels -fix cracks on scoops (or remove them) -remove and bead blast the trim painted black by idiot prior owner. -missing one power top ram, and recommend new plastic lines for the power top, but I have heard the motor run. -horn button needs attention Q: Drive to WA?. I would not drive a 2011 Suburban to WA, so the T/A would be better off riding on a truck. A 5-6 day drive in a small no-A/C car is more torture than a $600-$800 transport (and would probably cost more than that in gas & hotels) UPDATE Sunday, May 1: Please read the ad before asking questions. I drove it today around Houston. A friend of mine needed the extra seats, so I gave them to him. Other extra parts are in the description Trades: I will consider trades for restored 67-69 Birds, 69-70 Shelby, or 65-67 Vette conv. ONLY; and have a 70 Shelby conv. (www.GT350.info) to throw in on a high dollar car. UPDATE SAT-APRIL 30: SORRY, BUT THE BOTTOM FEEDERS ARE GETTING UNBEARABLE! 20 MESSAGES FROM LOWBALLERS DELETED AND IGNORED. THERE IS NO WAY I WILL SELL THIS CAR FOR LESS THAN THE OPENING BID PRICE. 1969 CONVERTIBLES ARE THE MOST DESIRABLE OF ALL FIREBIRDS. I do not have the time to finish this car. Here we have a running/driving 1969 Trans-Am Clone, close to completion (needs paint & trim & TLC). Current Texas inspection and Plates. In 1969, Pontiac only produced 8 Trans-Am Convertibles, so we will not see one any time soon. However, creating one is fairly easy. The prior brain-damaged owner painted the car Black with Red T/A stripes... not the correct T/A colors. It will need to be painted "Cameo White" with "Tyrol Blue" stripes like the 8 real ones. It already has the T/A hood scoops, wing, and louvers. I am no expert, but the floorpans seem solid. DRIVETRAIN: Engine is a 350 Pontiac w/TH400 tranny. Runs and starts fine. Have no idea about rear end gear power steering new battery INTERIOR: Interior has late model seats (electric driver seat) with stock console, The existing convertible top is black and faded, and one of the power rams is not there, however: WE HAVE ALREADY PURCHASED A NEW CORRECT WHITE 1969 TOP FOR THE CAR AND IT IS INCLUDED IN THIS SALE. The carpet is tired, but I saw a new blue carpet set on ebay for $99. Front seatbelts are in place Instrument Panel Bezel will probably need to be replaced Appears to have been an original a/c car Wood sport wheel BODY: Body appears straight with spider crack near scoops on hood and small bubble at base of door. Important- The stabilizer "cocktail shaker" cans are still in the trunk (most are removed) new trunk keyway bezel new hood release assy the idiot prior owner must have been a goth wierdo, because he painted everything black. We were able to clean most of it off with polish and beadblaster, but you will need to get the rest. I found a lot of parts to simply replace them in North Houston, but have not bothered to buy them yet. Wheels will need to be repainted, but trim rings are there Tires look OK sport mirror on driver side was also painted black. WE HAVE ALREADY PURCHASED A PAIR OF NEW 1969 MIRRORS FOR THE CAR AND THEY ARE INCLUDED IN THIS SALE. We have some extra parts to throw in for the new owner, and will discuss them after the sale. We have clear Texas title with current license, registration, and inspection sticker. Although it is exempt from future Texas inspections, it was required for initial registration in Texas. Please make sure that you send your state’s transfer and registration forms as well. Less than 10 feedback must contact us before bidding. The car is for sale locally and is subject to prior sale. Do not bother with lowball emails, we will not respond. On the other hand, if you want to end it early for a reasonable number, I might consider it. $1,000 Deposit Due within 24 hours of closing (sorry, no exceptions) Awful pedal covers are long gone
