Vehicle Detail

FORD: Galaxie 500 1964 Galaxie 500, 2D HT, V-8 Automatic. This is a really neat car. Previous owner changed out the original 352 to a nice running 460 with electronic ignition, Crites headers and 3” exhaust with flowmasters. Also installed rebuilt C-6 tranny w/floor shift and line lock and replaced stock dash gauges with a set of auto meters that look great, - also replaced original steering wheel with very nice after market wheel. Speedometer doesn’t work, but think it’s just an electrical connection under the dash, so I’ll get that fixed before anyone picks the car up. All lights, horn and turn signals work, AM radio comes on, but doesn’t produce any sound. Car has power steering and handles like a dream. Also has aluminum radiator, with motor driven fan as well as electric fan w/thermostat for auto switch on for those hot summer days. Motor has 4 barrel aluminum intake with edelbrock 4 bbl carb. This car runs strong, but not outlandish by any stretch. I got the impression the fellow I got this from was planning on eventually doing some racing with it, but I can’t find any evidence of it under the car (bits of rubber or misaligned parts). Think he ran out of money before he got that far. Front end rebuilt and new brakes as well. Exhaust has nice rumble for my tastes, but if it’s too loud for you, a small glass pack or turbo could be added inline on each side to make it sound a little more mellow. Paint and interior are nice, but not perfect and this car looks great going down the road. Small tear in headliner under passenger side sun visor, but not visible when it’s upright. Small hole in carpet under heel area under foot feed, but floor mat covers that and the rest of the carpet looks great. The dash has an aftermarket cover on it, and I’ve never had it off to look at the dash itself since it looks very nice the way it is (of course Dearborn Classics has the replacement dash if you want). Odometer shows 00340 miles, but I believe that is the mileage between when the odometer was installed and quit. The motor and tranny have no more than a couple of thousand miles on them and there’s no play in the rear end, or u-joint noise. This is a car you can get in and drive home if you want to. Wheels shown do not go with the car, but I have a set of light grey centered mags that look nice on there with new tires that will be swapped out before it’s picked up. Bumpers are in good shape as is the brite work, inside and out.
