PLEASE SCROLL DOWN TO VIEW PICTURES OF THE CARUp for auction is a an extremely early 1968 Mercedes Benz 300SEL 6.3. This is a euro version with the sought after 9:1 HIGH COMPRESSION motor. This car was imported to the United States by a doctor in Oklahoma City. The doctor subsequently sold it to the person who I bought it from. The gentleman I bought it from lived in Connecticut and carried out a restoration on the car approximately 10 years ago. The car has 106,000 Miles, but has gone through a cosmetic and mechanical restoration. This car does not appear to have suffered any rust in its lifetime. Chassis 109.018-12-000022 was built in late 1968 and left the factory with Dark Green paint and a light beige velour interior. This is an EXTREMELY early example of the 6.3. It was only the 22nd 300SEL 6.3 off the production line. Such early examples as this one have unique differences. Notice the wood that wraps up the sides and along the top of the front windshield. Also notice the throttle linkage in the engine bay that is identical to that used on the 600 limo. The car also has the nice euro style fog lights and a sunroof, which is a must have for one of these cars.The car went through a complete cosmetic restoration which included a complete strip down and doors off paint job. During the cosmetic restoration, all carpeting, headliner, leather and seat pads were replaced. The wood was refinished and all seals were replaced after the paintwork. The car also has new window channeling and felt. Mechanicals: The owner had the transmission overhauled and resealed during the restoration work he had done. The car drives wonderfully has no mechanical issues. It drives smoothly and handles great on the freeway. Paint: The paint on this car is extremely nice, but it 10 years old so there are a few small chips and one scratch on the trunk lid. There is no fading or hazing of any kind. It still has a wonderful shine and luster to it. The pictures do not do justice to this paint job. It is an extremely nice job and the color is amazing on the classic body style of the 300SEL. There is absolutely no orange peel. While this is an EXTREMELY NICE paint job, it is not flawless. The car is perfectly straight and doest not have any dings, dimples or dents. Suspension: During the restoration most of the wear parts seem to have been replaced and because of that the car drives smoothly and there are no odd rattles. Air Suspension System: Less than 10 years ago when this particular car underwent restoration the car had all air hoses replaced and a freshly rebuilt set of air valves installed. During my ownership, I have let the car sit for a period of 3 months at one point, and it never dropped an inch. This air suspension system is flawless and will never drop. It is working perfectly as it was designed to. Leather: The leather, seat pads and carpeting were all replaced and are as new. The headliner was also replaced and is perfect.Wood: The woodwork was restored and is extremely nice. There is one flaw on the left end of the dash bow I believe. Some odd staining. TITLE: Please note that this car is from the state of Connecticut and I have not transferred it into my own name. This car does not come with a title, it comes with a state registration form that is signed off by the former owner. Older cars in the state of Connecticut do NOT have titles and instead use this form of registration as an ownership document.
