Vehicle Detail
Hello, Well folks.. You have another shot at it.. Im hesitant to re-list.. Its painful dragging the departure of one my beloved machines out! Ive lowered the "Buy It Now", and the reserve. This may be your last chance at a beautiful 240Z in this color combination for sometime.. Bid to win this time around guys.. and gals. BIDDERS WITH 0 FEEDBACK OR OUT OF COUNTRY contact me first. I will want to speak to you on the phone. Ok.. Here ya go! Welcome to my auction.. For your consideration, is my beautiful 1972 Datsun 240Z. I have owned too many Datsuns to count... But this one is the most special of all.. I searched for over 10 years to find it.. If you have been specifically looking for a original paint 240z in this color combination, in this condition, you know. The couple I came across over the years had automatics.. Not what I wanted.. Well, I finally found this beauty in the bay area. I purchased it from the second owner, who only owned it for about year. The original owner was a woman.. This car spent its life in the Bay Area. In 2003, and 10,000 miles ago, the original owner took the car to an Import shop, and had them completely go through the mechanical components of the car. There are a couple receipts (comprised of several pages) that total over $12,000!! From entirely new brake system, suspension components, engine tune, cooling system, on and on.. It looks as though OEM parts were almost exclusively used. The car still retains its original spark plug wires.. NGK's with a printed 1972 on each wire, all original glass (including windshield), original headlights, looks like original exhaust, minus the muffler. This should begin to give you an understanding of what kind of car you are considering. Exterior Condition: Beautiful Original Datsun paint code #110 red.. Most people call it persimmon.. Looks more orange than red. The most stunning color combination the 240z was ever produced in. There is no evidence of ANY body work, collision, rust repair, etc. Everything is as it was nearly 40 years ago.. Paint has a great patina, and is still shiny, smooth and beautiful. There are several minor door dings, as this car did not have the common dealer installed door guard. The passenger door has more small door dings than any other panel.. The rear drivers corner has the most significant dent (see pic) and the roof has the most significant paint flaw, looks like an egg, or huge bird dropping got on it.. Not bad, and didnt show in pic, but its there. I tried to capture the bumps and bruises, but it is difficult to do.. Just know it has them. There is no bondo hiding them. The car is as rust free as I have seen. Ive tried to show all the areas of the car that I would want to see. I know these cars well, have several.. have owned countless Datsuns over the years. Any areas you want to see, that I have not shown, I will gladly take. Also, in an effort for you to see the car, I am willing to pick you up from the airport, drive you here to inspect the car yourself. That is what I did when I bought the car. Interior Condition: Simply beautiful! Pics speak for themselves. It does have a dash cover on it, and it does slightly interfere with the glove box door. I dont know how it looks under the dash cover. All locks work with the same key.. And I do have the original key, temporarily lost (in effort to keep it safe!). Everything works with the exception of the clock, and factory radio.. It powers up, but no volume. Electric antennae works fine. All gauges and lights work as they should. Look at the pics of the interior floors! Thats how you want the floors of your Datsun to look!! Mechanical Condition: Superb! This car honestly runs, drives, stops, accelerates, better than any I have driven.. Very impressive test drive. I bought the car in the Bay Area, drove it home to Salt Lake City, Utah (750miles) with no problems, a delight to drive. That was 2 plus years ago. I have only burned a few tanks of gas through it since, with the exception of driving it to Southern California for the 2009 MSA show.. You may have seen it there. It is pure driving pleasure at any speed. The only work I know it needs is..1) Slight exhaust manifold leak, when engine is hot, it is not noticeable. 2) Rear end clunk.. (was noted in the $12K receipts from original owner) I was sure it was the diff mount, and replaced it.. Baffled, I replaced the trans mount, and put a different diff in it, with a 3:55 (a nice upgrade). Original diff is included. Clunk remains, my friend is telling me the giant nut on the back of the rear wheel needs to be tightened. Shop replaced the wheel bearings, so, Im thinking hes correct. I will try to take a look and remedy this. It has been this way for years. I would without question drive this car across the planet.. and back. Driving it, you can just feel and tell, it was an (essentially) a one owner car. I am willing to work with buyers for shipping or inspection needs. My schedule is flexible. I am available by phone as well for a walk around over the phone.
