I am selling a 1988 Mercedes 560 SEL for my father. This has been in my family since it was purchased brand new by my grandfather. When my grandfather had it he always had it serviced and maintained by the dealership. He gave it to my parents I think in 2001 or 2002 and since then it has had very little use since it was a third car for them. This car looks great and starts up and runs every time. It has 224,000 miles on it but you would never be able to tell with the way it runs and looks. I will list everything that I know it has and everything I know it needs. It was the top of the line in 88 and fully loaded with heated seats ( I didnt even know they existed in 88), sunroof, full leather power seats, power windows and doors and much more that I can not think of right now. It was painted all over at the dealership in 2002. The top half of the engine was overhauled at 155,000 miles. The wheels on it are off of a 2000 s class. The brake pads, rotors, and calipers were replaced less than 3000 miles ago so they are like new but with the car sitting the rotors I think need to be turned now they pulsate a little. The car needs an exhaust system according to my father but it does not sound bad and I would never have known if he didnt tell me. He says the back half is rusted and might have a couple leaks in it. It can probably be worked pretty easy by an exhaust shop. The air bag system needs a new control module. This was triggering the check engine light so they took the bulb out in it. Again the check engine light is on because of this but does not show up on the dash because of the bulb. I dont want any one to think I was trying to hide this witth the bulb missing. The cruise control is also not working I dont know the reason or the cause of this. These are the only major problems that I know of. There are some other miscelaneous things cosmetically such as the grille being slightly dented and there being some small door dingd and scratches in the right rear door, the interior is in good shape except for the cup holder on the driver side being broken and some mount holes that are on the right side of the center where I think he had XM hooked up. The driver seat sinks a little and I think is due to the frame, the seats works fine and is actually kind of comfortable with this. There is wood trim inside and the car overall is in really good shape for the year. It will start up every time and run good. The appearance of the car is amazing and you really have to come see it to appreciate it. Any questions please ask. I am selling this car due to my parents divorsing that is the only reason it is being sold and sold for so little. The car is used and has a couple of issues that need to be fixed. These issuesdo not stop the performance of the car and are up to you if you want them done, the car will run fine without having them done. I have descibed this car, the good and the bad to the best I can with what I know but it is used and has a couple of things wrong so it is being sold AS IS with no warranty. This is also for sale locally. The reserve is set low because I have to sell this as soon as possible.
