Presented for auction is this beautiful 1979 Chrysler New Yorker 5th Avenue with approximately 29,000 original miles. I am the second owner of this incredible survivor car and have pampered this vehicle for the last eight years. I purchased it from the original owner, who bought it late in the 1979 model year. The undercarriage of this vehicle and all surfaces are immaculate and 100% rust free, Mechanically, this vehicle is in excellent condition. The venerable 360- V8, two barrel Chrysler engine runs smoothly with quick start up and acceleration. Front power disc/rear drum brakes, power steering and three speed torque-flite automatic transmission all work effortlessly with no leaks or hesitation of any kind. The exterior of the vehicle displays lot's of chrome which is shiny and in excellent condition with a few minor dull spots mostly on the lower rear bumper. Original wire wheel covers are shiny and in like new condition. The paint is the original designer cream on beige two-tone treatment with accent striping and is in excellent condition, with only a few very minor imperfections. The monochromatic leather interior is all original and beautiful with little or no signs of wear. Most people who see the interior cannot believe it to be that of a 32 year old vehicle. The champagne leather seats, armrests and leather wrapped steering wheel are thick and supple to the touch as are the padded vinyl door moldings and assist handles. The interior still remarkably offers the wonderful aroma of a new car. The dash and instrument panel are color coordinated with the original driftwood applique maintained in perfect condition. All gauges and warning lights are fully functional, although the fasten seat bell warning chime has lost some of it's strength. The padded dashboard covering and vinyl surround are in excellent condition with no signs of wear, cracking or discoloration. The thick 20 ounce cut pile carpeting likewise has no stains or wear marks. The beige Bancroft grain landau vinyl roof is in excellent condition as is the trunk, which is fully carpeted and houses a brand new spare. The Firestone white sidewall tires are new with approximately 90% of tread life remaining. All power accessories; lights, windows, door locks, seat, trunk and cruise control... work as they should with the exception of the power antenna which only recently went on hiatus. The radio is of the original eight track variety and it produces clear four speaker stereo sound, 1970's style. In the evening, this vehicle really shines as only a disco-era Chrysler can, with electrically operated concealed front headlamps (work perfectly) edge lit opera lamps, dual cornering lights, turn signal lamp monitors and 8 individual interior lights which greet passengers upon entry into the beautiful interior. The AC and heating system is fully operable (it has NOT been converted to a newer refrigerant) however it will most likely need recharging as the air is cool but not ice-cold. If you have an interest in the R-Body New Yorkers, you are aware of their low production and unique place in Chrysler history. They are the last full size Chrysler products made, prior to the advent of the less opulent K-car era at Chrysler. At the time, the 1979 Fifth Avenue Edition New Yorker was the most expensive and exclusive vehicle offered by Chrysler Corporation. It is my belief that this vehicle represents what is most likely one of the best original examples of its kind in the country. I have set a very reasonable reserve for this vehicle and am offering it for sale as I have just too many other projects and vehicles to devote my time to. I have described this vehicle honestly and to the best of my ability and would be happy to answer any additional questions from serious bidders.
