Most recently the engine was rebuilt to Nash Healy specifications and since that date it has been driven less than 300 miles. Since the restoration the Ambassador has resided in it own climate controlled garage also under a custom California cover. The restoration was completed using New Old Stock parts as much as was possible. Where a small amount of rust did exist in the front floor pan and in the trunk area, it was cut out and replaced with new sheet metal of the same gauge and then blended by grinding and sanding into the existing surrounding sheet metal. Every effort was made to return the Ambassador to its original stock configuration. Engine and Transmission The engine was rebuilt to original factory specifications for a Nash Healy engine. It was completely balanced through the clutch and pressure plate and it runs as smooth as silk. The car has been driven less than 300 miles since the new engine was installed. When the new engine was installed the engine compartment was detailed and a new complete bumper to bumper wiring harness was installed. The transmission is a manual 3-speed with overdrive. Paint and Body Work The body is very straight and the paint shows very well. The beautiful blue color is as near an exact match to the original car color as was attainable. The current finish was completed several years ago and does show the expected road marks that occur over the years of driving. Interior The interior was completed with all new upholstery, carpet and headliner materials. The trunk compartment was re-covered with newly manufactured materials to the NOS pattern. The instrument panel and gauges were replaced with NOS gauges with exception of the speedometer. The original speedometer show 68,000 miles which is assumed to be correct although it does not reflect the condition of the car since everything has been rebuilt or replaced. Chrome and Stainless Steel The NOS chrome parts were re-plated with brand new chrome – You will not find any early 50’s or cheap Korean chrome on this car. The chrome and stainless steel looks perfect and is blemish free. Brakes and Suspension Parts The brake and suspension parts have all been replaced with NOS parts.
