MY SINCERE APOLOGIES TO THOSE BIDDERS WHO LEGITIMATELY BIDDED ON THE GREMLIN. IT APPEARS THAT A FRAUDULENT BIDDER CHOSE TO USE MY BUY IT NOW AND ENDED MY LISTING. PLEASE VIEW MY FEEDBACK. AS I STATE BELOW I TAKE TRANSACTING ON EBAY SERIOUSLY. PLEASE READ MY LISTING AND BUY WITH CONFIDENCE. NICE ALL ORIGINAL AMC GREMLIN. THIS GREMLIN HAS SPENT ALL ITS LIFE IN SUNNY CALIFORNIA AND STILL RETAINS ITS ORIGINAL BLUE LICENCE PLATE. BASED ON THE MILEAGE OF 56,281 AND THE OVERALL CONDITION OF THIS GREMLIN I BELIEVE IT TO BE CORRECT MILEAGE. In its final year of 1978, the Gremlin received a number of changes, the biggest was inside: a revised instrument panel borrowed from the then-new 1978 Concord. The dashboard featured high-level ventilation, HVAC and radio switchgear within easier grasp, as well as a full-width flat top. The Gremlin's body shape had not changed appreciably in its nine years of production. In the Gremlin's final year, 1978, total production was just 22,104 units. A total of 671,475 Gremlins were sold in the United States and Canada, making it the most popular single generation body style/chassis produced by AMC (other models, such as the Rambler and even Hornet, have higher production numbers, but consisted of more than one chassis design and body style in the case of the Rambler, multiple body styles for the Hornet). The AMC Gremlin is among the cars that people who were in high school in the late 1970s and early 1980s would be familiar with because it was one of the first cars they drove and among most often seen in student parking lots. Kiplinger's personal finance magazine, Changing Times, listed the AMC Gremlin as first among the best subcompact used cars as "selected by top mechanics for good value, good service." Five years after the Gremlin's introduction, the mechanics liked the six-cylinder engine and most preferred automatic transmission. Comments included, "I have one. It's the greatest. I own one with a 304 V-8 engine. Have no trouble outside of normal maintenance." During the early 1970s American cars “are remembered far more often for their power than their style, and ... throughout the decade, the character of cars became brurred. Only a handfull of cars had real personalities...” the AMC Gremlin was one of them, “a pioneering hatchback”. In 2007, Popular Science magazine included the 13.4-foot (4.1 m) AMC Gremlin as one of six historic cars that took "Small Steps to a Smart Future" in a special issue about the "Future of the Car: Efficiency". Scarcity, and the fact that it is a 1970s car, makes the Gremlin collectible, and it has a following among old car hobbyists and collectors of historic vehicles. In some cases, the Gremlin enjoys "a cult-like following in today's collectible car market. According to Business Week 1970s cars such as the Gremlin are increasingly attractive to today's buyers, and an insurance provider for collector-car owners, reports that values are rising. In light of rising gasoline prices, the Gremlin offers a relatively economical alternative to muscle cars and the more massive American cars of its era-especially for buyers leaning toward the eccentric. AMC said the Gremlin got "the best gas mileage of any production car made in America", and its 21-US-gallon (79 L; 17 imp gal) gas tank allowed 500 miles (805 km) or more between fill-ups. It has been said that scarcity makes any Gremlin in good condition worth preserving as a unique piece of automotive history. The Gremlin is considered potentially "the silent sleeper of collectible cars". There are active AMC car clubs with numerous local chapters to assist Gremlin owners. THIS GREMLIN HAD THE FOLLOWING OPTIONS: 4.2 LITRE (258) INLINE SIX AUTOMATIC 3 SPEED AIR CONDITIONING POWER STEERING TINTED GLASS WHEEL LIP AND ROCKER MOLDING MOLDING BODYSIDE MOLDING BUMPERETTES FULL WHEEL COVERS BODYSIDE STRIPE TAN TWO-TONE VINYL INTERIOR AM RADIO ROOF RACK REAR WINDOW SPOILER (RARE YELLOW PAINT) CONDITION: THE OVERALL CONDITION OF THIS GREMLIN IS VERY GOOD AS CAN BE SEEN IN THE PICTURES AND ATTESTS TO THE VERY LOW MILEAGE OF THE CAR. THE RARE YELLOW PAINT HAS A PATINA THAT IS IN LINE WITH ENAMEL PAINT OF THIS ERA BUT WITH A GOOD BUFFING WILL CERTAINLY BE PRESENTABLE. BODY HAS SOME SMALL DENTS, SCRATCHES AND A SMALL AREA OF SURFACE RUST AT REAR BUMPER ON DRIVER SIDE WHICH IS TO BE EXPECTED FOR A 34 YEAR OLD VEHICLE AND THERE WAS A MINOR DENT ON THE FRONT RIGHT (PASSENGER SIDE) FENDER THAT SOMEONE ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR. THIS WILL NEED THE ATTENTION OF A PROFESSIONAL TO MAKE NICE. OVERALL THE BODY IS GREAT FOR ITS AGE AND RUSTFREE THANKS TO SPENDING ITS LIFE IN AND AROUND PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA AREA. THE TINTED GLASS IS ALL GOOD AND DAMAGE FREE. THE BUMPERS, GRILLE AND BRIGHT TRIM ARE VERY GOOD OVERALL AS WELL, AS IS TO BE EXPECTED WITH A CAR HAVING LOW MILEAGE. THE INTERIOR TWO-TONE VINYL SEATS ARE IN VERY NICE ORIGINAL CONDITION WITH MINOR WEAR COMMENSURATE WITH THE AGE AND LOW MILEAGE OF THE CAR. THE DASH IS UNCRACKED. THE CARPET IS GOOD JUST NEEDS A GOOD CLEANING. THE ENGINE BAY IS ALSO VERY CLEAN AND STILL HAS MANY OF THE SERVICE DECALS IN PLACE. THE HOSE FROM THE AIR CLEANER SNORKEL TO THE FRONT OF THE CAR FOR INTAKE OF CLEAN AIR IS ALSO IN PLACE. ( A RARITY ON A CAR THIS AGE). THE CAR RUNS AND DRIVES LIKE A GREMLIN SHOULD. IT COULD USE NEW TIRES. (AS AN ADDED BONUS I WILL THROW IN AN ORIGINAL SET OF 15x7 INCH AMC RALLY WHEELS I REMOVED FROM MY 1974 JAVELIN AMX YEARS AGO. THEY STILL HAVE THE 30,000 ORIGINAL MILE GOODYEAR WHITE LETTER TIRES ON THEM (AT LEAST A $400.00 VALUE). NEW OWNER WILL HAVE TO PAY SHIPPING FROM NIAGARA FALLS NY IF THEY WANT THEM SENT). IF YOU ARE IN CANADA I WILL SHIP THEM FROM MY HOME. THE SALE: I SEARCHED FOR A LONG TIME TO GET A NICE CLEAN UNMOLESTED GREMLIN LIKE THIS GREMLIN. HOWEVER BECAUSE OF OTHER FACTORS AND PROJECT PRIORITIES I MUST LET THIS ONE GO TO A NEW HOME. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY LOCATED AT MY FRIENDS HOME IN HESPERIA, CALIFORNIA. I DO ENCOURAGE PROSPECTIVE BUYERS TO GO INSPECT THE GREMLIN BEFORE BIDDING IF YOU ARE FROM THAT AREA. I TAKE TRANSACTING ON EBAY VERY SERIOUSLY AND I ASK THAT ANY BIDDERS DO THE SAME. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO DESCRIBE THE GREMLIN AS ACCURATELY AND FORTHRIGHT AS POSSIBLE. KEEP IN MIND YOU ARE BUYING A NEAR 34 YEAR OLD VEHICLE AND THEY DO SOMETIMES HAVE UNFORSEEN ISSUES. ANY QUESTIONS EITHER EMAIL ME AT CANADIANCLASSICS2@GMAIL.COM OR CALL ME AT (647) 828-1374. SHIPPING: I HAVE CONTACTS FOR SHIPPING AND WILL ASSIST YOU IN SHIPPING THE VEHICLE TO YOUR STATE IF NOT IN CALIFORNIA. AS AN EXAMPLE I CAN HAVE THE CAR SHIPPED TO THE UPSATE NEW YORK AREA FOR $1,000. FURTHER EAST WOULD BE ABOUT $1,200. FURTHER WEST A LITTLE LESS. FOR ANYONE INTERESTED IN CANADA, I LIVE IN THE TORONTO, ONTARIO AREA AND CAN HAVE THE VEHICLE DELIVERED TO MY HOUSE FOR MY COST OF $1,200 HOWEVER YOU ARE RESPOSNSIBLE FOR TAXES AND PAPERWORK THROUGH THE BORDER. I CAN HELP YOU WITH THAT. THANKS FOR LOOKING AT MY RARE, CLEAN LITTLE GREMLIN AND GOOD LUCK WITH THE BIDDING!!!
