Vehicle Detail
This a "rolling Chassis" No engine, transmission, front bumper or some fasteners. The car will be shipped with old porsche steel rims and tires. The cars was disassembled and stored under cover in carports and garages since Christmas 1974. The quick story of this car, was that a US Service man purchased the car while in Germany. The person did not like the original dark blue, so had it painted green. He was also short in stature and had one (1) inch spaces put under the drivers seat rails. They would have been thicker, but the height of the seat interfered with getting into first gear. Imported to US in 1970 and not really enjoying the car, it sat in his yard until I purchased it in 1973. At that time the left rear torsion bar had snapped, rust attacked scratch. I drove it for about a year and then on an nasty Christmas night was the third of six cars to try to avoid someone spun out on an iced overpass. I missed the cars, but! eventually slid backwards resting the passenger's side on a guard rail. The car and parts were the first things packed in 3 separate moving trucks to three states. The right rear quarterpanel was replaced as well as the outer rocker panel. I then assessed the rest of the car and decided to do a complete restoration. The front pan was replaced from the top of the hump forward. As shown in photo's there are some piece's which stil need to be made by hand. But! the following parts (ALL ORIGONAL PORSCHE) come with the car. Inner sides, corners, support peices both rockers and front cross peice. there is also a new right rear swing arm, with ? bearing, and oil reserve. The rear bumpers are new Porsche. I have some of my 68 912 parts mixed up with the 911,in the pics, But! all the parts that came with the car go with the car. Now for car condition. Evan though the car was only on the road for ~ 8 years, the rust got to it. Note; the origonal manual, written in German, stated the car should be undercoated twice a year. Wonder if any had that done. The manual Does Not go with the car. I am not sure where it is. The floor was surpisingly solid. The pictures show the usual bad places. The hole in the passenger back seat was done when it was moved without properly securing the axel. The gas heated acually worked when Idrove the car. The door and inner panels are here but! in bad shape. the seats need cleaning because of being stored inside most of the years. The dash is not cracked and can be cleaned as well as the top pad. Origonal keys, steering wheel and radio. The origonal speedometer was in Km's ~116,000 was removed and replaced with a used one with 53,000 on it, There was 3,000 added before car taken off road.
