Vehicle Detail
1963 Renault Dauphine - Gordini "MUST SELL" This car was France's answer to the VW Beetle only better, it has 4 doors, water cooled engine in the rear and got 40mpg, rack and pinion steering, 4 wheel disc brakes. Ahead of its time!!! This car only weighs 1443lbs with a tank fo gas! The engine is 845cc Wow! 36Hp. The Engine is cast iron and they are durable. Renault put this motor in everything from cars and trucks (Mack) to tractors, generators, boats (sold by Mercury) They made over 30 million of the Ventoux inline 4 motor!!! I bought this car to restore with my son...... but, we didn't get far. He is now in college and my wife wants it gone. It is a model R1094 with a Type 670-5 4cylinder engine. It is a Gordini model instead of the basic Dauphine. It has the 4 speed transmission and 4 wheel disc brakes. The stock Dauphines had a 3 speed transmission and a 28mm Solex carburetor. The Gordini has a 32mm Solex PBIT carburetor. This car came from Azrizona and hasn't been on the road in New Hampshire (New England). I bought it from second owner who also wanted to restore the car. He had it in his garage. When I bought the car it was running and I drove it around the neighborhood. It has been sitting for two years and started for me, but I had trouble keeping it running. The carburetor definitely needs to be rebuilt. The car will start right up if you come to take a look at it. I have replaced all the upper and lower control arm bushings. The tie rod ends look good as do the king and link pins. I have run all new brake lines and replaced the flexible rubber lines to the wheels, I installed a new (NOS) mechanical fuel pump. * It has a new exhaust installed. * I removed the gas tank cleaned it and brazed the pickup tube, I have not put any gas in it. * It has a newer Renault (AMC) alternator on it. I have installed new rear shocks and have a new pair for the front. SPARE PARTS: - 5 new tires! 135/85 R15 - Two new rear taillight lens, - working replacement dash instrument panel (looks better, good paint) - New rubber to reseal the 4 doors. - Spare carburetor, - Two sets of disc pads, - Two manuals for the car, - New Battery, - Two new monroe front shocks, - Spare windshield wiper motor, - Spare 12 voltage regulator, - - Spare electric fuel pump. - Spare starter. - 6 Chrome hubcaps 4 are in real good shape. The wheels (rims) has been repainted. There are 6 rims altogether - Front seats are in very good condidtion, Rear seat is faded and rough. - Spare new clutch and pressure plate - I bought burgundy naugahide materiel to make new door panels. - New roll of carpet to replace on the floors - New foreign old style antenna The car has all the glass intact. windows roll up down good and doors work very well. - The lights work, windshield wipers work. - Emergency brake works too! - Frame is solid, The front floor boards are rusting through and would need to be cut out and new metal welded in. I spoke to a Dauphine owner and he told me that when the windshield rubber drys out they leak around the windshield and water collects inthe corners of the floors. The centers of the floors are good. The carburetor needs to be rebuilt, I would replace all hoses and V-belts too. The hoses are not hard to match up. It should be noted the cooling system is low pressure. It should have a radiator cap of 4.5 PSI, this is normal for this car. The cap can be bought on Ebay. Radiator doesn't leak. Many parts can be found on Ebay. In fact the front windshielf rubber is available for $50. It will need two front shocks installed, new sway bar bushings and links installed and the four disc brake calipers rebuilt - replaced. The front calipers can be bought at ROCKAUTO.COM for $48 each ready to install. The front calipers are rebuilt by A1-Cardone. I contacted A1-Cardone and have an email from them that they believe they can rebuild the rear calipers (80% sure sight unseen). Renault Ventoux engine From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search The Ventoux was an automotive engine designed by Renault for the Renault 4CV, used subsequently until 1997, and named after Mont Ventoux in Provence. The engine was liquid cooled, with four cylinders in line. It was also characterised by its three main bearing design and its piston stroke of 80mm. It used a lateral camshaft to operate overhead valves. The engine was produced from 1947 through 1984, in displacements of 603cc, 748cc, 782cc, and 845cc, the differences being effected by changing the cylinder bore diameter. Ford do Brasil extended the engine to 1300cc and 1400cc to use it on the Ford Corcel The following Renault models used the Ventoux engine: 4CV Dauphine and Ondine Dauphinoise Caravelle and Floride Estafette Alpine A108 3 4 5 6 The following Willys-Overland models used the Ventoux engine: Interlagos The following Ford models used the Ventoux engine: Corcel I and Belina I Willys-Overland do Brasil produced this engine in Brazil for use in the Interlagos (Renault Alpine) and Dauphine, which they built under Renault license from 1959 until 1967. Renault continued developing the engine and branded it Renault Cléon engine afterwards. Ford do Brasil acquired Willys-Overland do Brasil in 1968 and continued producing the engine with a higher displacement (of 1300cc and 1400cc) until 1984. After that Ford they made several enhancements to improve the engine performance, increased the displacement to 1600cc and rebranded it as "CHT engine". [1] [2] It carved its own fame in Brazil, to the point many until today also call the 1.3L and 1.4L Ventoux engines as "CHT".
