Vehicle Detail

Offered here is a 1965 AMC Marlin. I' ve got too many projects going, so I have to let it go. This car was sold new at Blackwell Motors in Danville Va. in July of 1965. The VIN decodes as the 242d Marlin ordered. Since these cars were launched in February of 1965, it's a pretty low number. In fact, I have searched the internet and have not been able to find a lower one, but that does not mean it's not out there somewhere. In any event, its a 287 "Iron Maiden" engine with an automatic transmission. It has power brakes. The engine is free, but the starter is kaput, so I don't know if it runs or not. The engine is missing the water pump, fan and air cleaner. The radiator is also not there. There is rust/cancer in the cowl and also in the corners of the toe boards. There is a big hole in the gas tank. The electric wipers are missing, as are some of the Marlin emblems. While it would be a daunting restoration project, it is a great parts car. The headlight doors are really good, as is the grill and front bumper. The rear bumper is pretty good too, and certainly rechromable. All of the Marlin side spears are there, and in decent used shape. The interior is in pretty good shape; the door skins, bucket seats, arm rests, etc. are all there. The gauges are all there. The interior light is gone, as is the radio and the dash insert that says "Marlin". I'd really like to sell this as a complet car; if it does not sell, I'll part it out, but don't ask until this auction is over. I had the title, and the original sales paperwork, but I can't lay my hands on it at this moment, so the car will be sold on a bill of sale only. I can apply for a replacement title for an extra $100.00. Car is located in Danville Va., and in fact is at the same dealership that sold it new back in 1965! You'll need a trailer. Obviously, this car is sold as is with no warranty. On Apr-14-11 at 12:52:24 PDT, seller added the following information: Added 4/14/11- In response to questions about the floor pans and trunk floor: The driver's side floor is solid, but as I said before there is rust thru in the toe board/kick panel corner. There are also two rust holes under the driver's seat on the transmission tunnel side (not on the tunnel itself), one aobut he size of a pack of cigarettes, and the other about the size of two packs end to end. I don't htin it affects the cross member underneath, but could not see real well. Both of these areas would be covered by the carpet, so it is an easy cheap fix. the rest of the floor is solid, though dirty. The passenger side has rust thru at the same place, but the rest is solid- I could not see under the seat. The rears are solid. The trunk floor is also solid. Please see the pics.
