Vehicle Detail
Up for auction and ready for spring is a matching numbers ’67 Triumph T120R Bonneville. I have owned this bike for 15 years and returned it to its original ’67 configuration. The top end was completely redone right before I purchased the bike and I have the paperwork showing all that was done. When I bought the T120R it had the wrong bars, shorty mufflers and a badly rusted front rim. Surprisingly, everything else was stock. The correct bars have been installed and the correct tank paint scheme was painted professionally by (can’t remember his name) in South Carolina, $400. The “World Record Holder” decal to the left of the filler cap was clear-coated and the tank is my favorite color scheme for all the late 60s Triumphs. The deep maroon is called “Aubergine” and the white below the badge is Alaska White. Also, the correct mufflers are in place and the front rim, with stainless spokes, was replaced shortly after purchase. The back rim still reads “Dunlop, Made in England.” Tires were new several years ago. I have no idea of the actual mileage but the speedo reads 2,855 which can't be correct. However, I have only put on about 750 miles since I have owned the bike. I belong to a British Bike Club and the T120R is licensed with an Ohio Historical Plate and has only been ridden to shows and club events. I have installed Boyer for reliability (sorry Lucas) and replaced the original Amal concentric carbs with NOS. Fuel lines are connected using original connectors/clamps. Everything works as it should! Headlight lens reads “Lucas.” Some unique aspects of the ’67: the “eyebrow” badge was discontinued after ’68 as were the stainless steel “mudguards.” The tale light is unique to the ’66-68 Bonnies as is the steering damper. This was the last year for the single cam front brake. Also the last year for the rather the ugly duckling “kill” button but it was original equipment. Midyear, Triumph changed the tank paint scheme from gold (the gold began to flake off) to the white and carbs from monobocs to concentrics. The serial #DU60039 indicates that this Bonnie came with the newer concentric carbs. Fork seals and push rod tube gaskets were replaced last year. This bike has received a 3rd in show for Triumphs (Class '63-'70 ) in 2007 up against completely restored Trumpets and in 2009 received the “Bonny’s Choice” award (see picture) for best un-restored Bonneville. All that’s needed to completely restore this bike is powder coating the frame, maybe some re-chroming, a new seat cover and some elbow grease. There is a very small chip on a fin on the right side opposite the plug (see picture) but that’s the only damage. The pictures will verify all of the above. Why? Wife say’s it’s time for a new kitchen. The reserve is very close to the starting price. Vol.1 No.3 of the Vintage Motorcycle Price Guide lists this bike (partial restoration, original) at $9600. I will help with shipping and deliver to a shipper of your choice near Cincinnati. Paypal is required and $500 via Paypal due within 48 hours, $250 non-refundable. If bike is picked up, balance due in cash or if you mail a cashier’s check, the check must clear before bike is released. The Triumph has a clear Ohio title. “Buyer beware” – there are no guarantees or warrantees implied with respect to this transaction. Also, the motorcycle is for sale locally so I reserve the right to cancel the auction at any time. Ask questions using the eBay format. Thanks for bidding and good luck!
