THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTIONPLEASE SCROLL DOWN TO VIEW 75 PICTURES OF THE CARUp for auction is a beautifully restored 1969 Mercedes Benz 300SEL 6.3. This is a late 1969 version with the sought after 9:1 HIGH COMPRESSION motor. This was sold new to a Airline Pilot who had a residence in both Northern California and Southern Oregon. It was kept at his Southern Oregon home and has been in the Northwest USA all of its life. It has 78,000 Miles, but has gone through a cosmetic and mechanical restoration. This car has NEVER suffered from any rust whatsoever. Chassis 109.018-12-002658 was built in late 1969 and left the factory with 180G Silver paint, Macassar Ebony Wood and Black Leather. The car recently went through a complete cosmetic restoration which included a complete strip down and doors off paint job. Instead of re-painting the car in boring Mercedes 180G silver, we decided to use the more modern Brilliant Silver. Brilliant Silver is absolutely stunning, especially on a classic MB like the 300SEL. While putting the car back together, we installed:New Door Seals, New Trunk Seal, New Front Glass, New Front and Rear Windshield Gaskets, New Sill Mats, Brand New 15" Hubcaps with Fresh Paint, New Window Channel and Felt, New Grill Seal, New Cowel Air Filters, New B-Pillar Seals, New Side Trim, New Trunk Mat Sound Padding and New Rubber Trunk Mat, New Gas Door Flap and all New Buffers and Grommets, New Door Handle and Trunk Handle Seals. The car also has just had perfectly restored Macassar Ebony wood installed and has new GAHH leather for the fronts seats. Before I purchased the car, it had gone through a complete mechanical restoration which included: A Rebuilt Transmission (Mark Goebl of Lakeside Motors did the work), Time Valve Stainless Steel Exhaust, Completely Rebuilt Air Suspension by Star Motors of New York, Complete Front Suspension and Rear Axle Rebuild by Star Motors of New York, A Reproduction OIL PAN PROTECTOR PLATE WAS INSTALLED, Rebuilt Mechanical Fuel Injection Pump, Cold Start Valves and Injectors, Rebuilt Air Compressor and Power Steering Pump, Rebuilt Power Steering Box, All New Fuel Lines, Rebuilt Heater Box and Fan, New Heater Levers, New Brake Rotors and Pads, New Shift Linkage Bushings, New Short Body Fuel Pump. Engine: The motor in this car was has had all the fuel components rebuilt and replaced. There are over $50,000 dollars in mechanical work in this car. The motor and mechanicals were done by local Mercedes expert Larry Miller at MBI Motors. Notice the detail in the engine bay: NLA green braided hose, original red braided A/C hose, original Gemi Clamps. The motor also has a factory oil pan protector plate (some call it a skid plate) installed. These are extremely rare. Transmission: The transmission was rebuilt by local Mercedes transmission expert Mark Goebl of Lakeside Motors. It performs wonderfully and its kick-down solenoid is working properly. Paint: The paint was just recently done in stunning Mercedes Brilliant Silver. The pictures do not do justice to this paint job. It is an extremely nice job and the color is amazing on the classic body style of the 300SEL. There is absolutely no orange peel. While this is an EXTREMELY NICE paint job, it is not flawless. There are three flaws that I picked out. One near the left front bullet light, one in a door jamb, and at the corner of the trunk lid. Suspension: During the restoration every single bushing, ball joint and wear part was replaced. The shocks were done as well. In order to improve handling, the previous owner had stronger sway bars and bushings fabricated. The the front suspension and rear differential was sent to Neil Dubey of Star Motors for a complete overhaul. Air Suspension System: Less than 10 years ago when this particular car underwent restoration the car had all air hoses replaced and a freshly rebuilt set of air valves installed. During my ownership, I have let the car sit for a period of 3 months at one point, and it never dropped an inch. This air suspension system is flawless and will never drop. It is working perfectly as it was designed to. Leather: GAHH, the finest leather supplier for classic MB leather, was used as the source for the front leather. The rear seat is in great shape and is original Roser Leather, as are all four Door Panels. GAHH made some replacement carpets that were installed over the original speckled charcoal carpeting, which is also in excellent shape. Wood: The woodwork was restored by Wood Restoration Specialist Gregory Merrick and is flawless. This car was fitted from the factory with Macassar Ebony wood. Flaws: The Right Front H4 Headlight is cracked, but still functions fine. The small paint flaws mentioned above. There are also two small areas on the rear seat's top where stitching has come loose. That would need to be re-sewn. Thankfully, the leather itself is not damaged at all.The car comes with its owners manual and a complete documentation of the restoration. The auction is scheduled to end April 1st, 2011 at 12 Noon Pacific Time, 2pm Central Time, 3pm Eastern and 8PM GMT. Please only bid if you are serious and plan to pay.
